Are you an Engineer capable of leading a workshop looking for a new role in Burton Upon Trent? If so our client is paying up to £48,000 for the right candidate.

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, they are looking for a results-driven engineer to help drive performance and assist with the management of the engineering department.

Currently, our client employs over 1,300 people and carries over 50m passengers a year. Recent acquisitions however, mean they now operate from depots across the Midlands, Greater Manchester, Lancashire, Oxfordshire, Surrey and the Heathrow area. They’re also busy actively seeking new opportunities through tendered and commercial opportunities to grow the business, so it’s a really great time to join them.

In this role as a Chargehands the focus will be to ensure a safe, punctual, reliable and cost-effective delivery of service through robust management of the Engineering staff at your disposal, analysis of engineering capabilities within your team and delivering effective strategies to support operational and business needs.

The ideal candidate

Will have a strong engineering background, will have had some experience in a senior engineering role for a similar fleet size (c.60 vehicles), within a PCV commercial setting or other relevant experience. Candidates with a background in LGV/PCV non-commercial (dealership/repairs) will also be considered.

The key requirements are:

• Recognised engineering qualification such as Level 3 HGV City & Guilds/NVQ or equivalent.
• Previous experience as a qualified Fitter/Mechanic/Engineer
• Possession of PSV Licence or be willing to work towards acquiring this.
• Strong people management and leadership skills, capable of motivating and maintaining discipline with engineering and cleaning staff
• Educated to at least GCSE Maths & English Pass or equivalent
