About the Department
SSE Renewables (SSER) is the UK and Ireland's leading renewable energy company. Our aim is to be the largest and most efficient developer of onshore and offshore wind in the UK and Ireland. We drive new growth by identifying, developing, building and operating high quality assets in GB, Ireland and internationally. In order to contribute to a low carbon future, we have committed to treble our current Renewables output by 2030.
Our Renewables Operations teams are responsible for operating our onshore and offshore wind and hydro fleet safely and efficiently. We carry out essential operations and maintenance to maximise asset value in a dynamic energy market.
What is the Role?
As our Wind Turbine Maintenance Technician, you'll play a key role working with a team of Technicians who take pride in the operation and maintenance of the SSE Renewables fleet.
Utilising information from our maintenance management system, you'll perform scheduled maintenance and fault rectification on our fleet of turbines, ensuring they are operating at their optimum capacity. Along with other members of the team, you'll deliver wind turbine maintenance for SSE Renewable Operations, driven by four key performance measures; SHE, Capability, Quality and Cost.
What do I need?
To be successful in this role, you'll be educated to a minimum of NC or SVQ Level 3 in a Mechanical/Electrical discipline or equivalent, and have served a recognised apprenticeship.
You'll have demonstrable experience of servicing, fault finding and repairing wind turbine generators or the equivalent experience within your current sector. A current GWO basic training certification would be highly beneficial and due to the importance of safety, you should be familiar with the application and use of safe systems of work, including working in accordance with Wind Turbine Safety Rules.
To ensure the site is operating efficiently throughout the year, you may be expected to participate in a scheduled standby rota. If you do participate, it's expected you would be required one week in four. Additional payments relating to this will be available.
