Job Summary

AECOM’s Water team in Glasgow are looking for an enthusiastic and driven water / wastewater treatment process engineer to help support project teams on a variety of interesting, diverse and challenging projects. The candidate must be self-motivated and be able to work with others; be able to manage their own delegated tasks, including time input to ensure client expectations are met. Working with an established multi-disciplinary team, you will input into the technical delivery of a range of projects covering water and wastewater infrastructure and non-infrastructure, throughout UK&I and internationally. Key clients include water utility companies, government bodies and major industrialists.

Job Duties

*

Responsible for the preparation and successful completion of a variety of process deliverables.

*

Participating in studies, assessments, modelling, preliminary and detailed design, specifications and supporting senior staff in submission of tenders, budget estimates and staffing requirement.

*

Produce technical calculations to a high standard of quality by hand or using current computer software e.g. BioWin.

*

Typical workload will include the preparation of calculations, mass balances, data sheets, specifications, process unit schedules, process trouble-shooting, data collection and analysis, feasibility/optimisation studies and the production of process drawings including PBDs, PIDs, PFDs etc.

*

Contributes to the UK&I best practice design and technical innovation for the delivery of programs and projects in the wastewater and water treatment fields as part of the wider UK&I Process team.

*

Participation in risk assessments including Hazop, DSEAR, SIL, FMEA etc.

*

Producing design and other deliverables in accordance with the requirements of all applicable standards and regulations.

*

Liaise with other disciplines and clients to ensure clear understanding of deliverables and responsibilities.

Minimum Requirements

*

1+ years’ experience in municipal or industrial wastewater treatment &/or reuse.

*

Ability to work as part of a team with minimal supervision.

*

Ability to plan and coordinate your work given an outline scope of the task.

*

Ability to work to a programme and highlight timeously any issues that will cause delays or changes.

*

Ability to cope with changes to client requirements or timescales during project delivery.

*

Experience in delivering water / wastewater projects.

*

Ability to work to budgets and timescales.

*

Understanding of CDM.

*

Understanding of Safety in Design.

Preferred Qualifications

*

Degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering or associated Scientific /Environmental discipline.

*

Working towards Chartership with an appropriate engineering/scientific institution (e.g. IChemE, CIWEM).
