Job Description

Our research group plays a central role in identifying gaps in current technologies and in conducting world-leading research to fill those gaps. We collaborate closely with product development teams and a large network of external researchers in both industry and academia. With a diverse set of skills distributed across the globe, our researchers drive leading-edge innovation in a broad range of areas. Our research activities cover a wide range of disciplines in the computing, electronics, silicon and software domains.

We are currently seeking an experienced engineering manager with research experience to join our Cambridge research team to lead our UK-based research projects. The manager will report to the VP of Engineering in Research.

The UK research director will be responsible for:

Responsible for ensuring successful execution of all UK based research projectsProviding site research leadership and guidance to the local team of researchers and supporting staffEnsuring projects are well managed and lead to successful tech transfer outcomesResponsible for recruitment, and development, of the UK based research teamsResponsible for preparing proposals for future research programs within the UK teamResponsible for providing input into the budget process for hardware, tool, and resource requirementsEnsure the UK research group has the environment and resources to deliver effectively on its agenda.

Job Requirements

What skills experience & qualifications do I need?

* MS degree or PhD in Computer Science / Computer Engineering / EE
* Demonstrated track record of engineering management
Professional research leadership in industry or at world-class academic institution

Essential Skills & Experience

* The candidate should have strong management skills:
* Experience managing large multi-site teamsManaging team members and project resourcesGood communication and people skillsEffective project management skills
* The candidate should have demonstrable experience in developing, executing, and disseminating research projects:
* Developing research project plans and strategiesCommunicating and collaborating with stakeholdersWorking in a dynamic fast changing research environmentCoaching and developing a team of engineers
* The candidate should have strong technical background and capable of engaging across a wide range of research domains.
