Job description/Person specification

An exciting opportunity to join an agile and high performing team of multi-disciplinary engineers within a UKAS accredited test facility delivering mission critical test and evaluation of defence related products. As part of this team you will develop the necessary skills to simulate some of the most challenging environments in the world to ensure that the systems are ultimately safe and suitable for service.

Specific Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will work within the planning team at the Environmental Test Centre at MOD Shoeburyness.
Key responsibilities –
• Day to day running of ongoing programs ensuring compliance with regulations including ITAR, EAR,
• overseeing and working directly with a team of project engineers
• Liaising with the test engineers, project managers and program scheduler to ensure programs run smoothly, achieve milestone dates and stay within budget.
• Liaising with customers in meetings either at ETC or at customers premises
• Translating customer requirements into a format that can easily be put into a test instruction
• Working with project Managers or a larger capture team to Create budgetary estimates or cost plans, schedules and risk registers for new programs or work
• Submission to internal safety panel to gain business approval for hazardous tasks
• Direct involvement with the creation of safety critical documents including, Risk Assessments, handling and transport plans
• Mentoring of project engineers

Be flexible and adaptable to the many and varied challenges faced by this role.
Be able to work proactively and reactively during the complete trials process.

Key Accountabilities:
Undertake further courses as required to ensure your continuous training development.
Produce weekly updates to the ETC Group leader on yours and other trials activities within the planning office.
Undertake duties assigned by the team and group leaders.
Undertake duties within other environmental departments, dependant on departmental workload

Essential Requirements:
Proficient in Microsoft Office and Project software
Knowledge and understanding of Defence Standards and Mil Specs
Working Knowledge of environmental engineering
Knowledge and experience within a relevant engineering subject.
Clean driving licence
Working Knowledge of Test and Evaluation process
Working towards professional qualification MiEXPE or IENG /CENG

Desirable Requirements:
IOSH or equivalent risk based qualification
Knowledge and understanding of British Standards and AECTP
Knowledge of the bid process
Mentoring or training skills
Working towards professional qualification MiEXPE or IENG /CENG
