We have an opening for two Transport Planning interns. This is a valuable work experience for 12 weeks for an ambitious student wishing to progress their career in the field of Transport Planning & Transport Modelling. This is an opportunity to work a broad range of projects covering all aspects of Transport Modelling and Transport Appraisals on major projects within the transportation business sector such as Road, Rail, Light Rail, Bus and Cycle schemes.
The role will include work shadowing team members involved in traffic modelling, transport appraisal, demand forecasting, cost benefit analysis, operating cost forecasting, business case and economic appraisal.
Reporting to the project manager, the successful candidate, will play a key part in supporting delivery teams, principally:
* Supporting with transport and economic appraisals
* Analytical assistance on transport projects such as feasibility studies, modelling, demand forecasts
* Technical notes / reports and business case development for projects
* Taking responsibility for task management
* Supporting graduate Transport Planner/s and other team members
The minimum qualifications for this position are:
Working toward 2:1 or equivalent degree level qualification in a relevant discipline such as Transport Planning, Geography, Mathematics, Economics or business related subject teamed with a strong interest in pursuing a career in Transport Planning
Strong data analysis using Microsoft excel and numerical skills is essential; some exposure to modelling using software tools such as SATURN, EMME, CUBE, VISUM, VISSIM or Paramics would be advantageous
Competent technical report writing skills
Confident communication skills
