Job Summary

AECOM are currently looking to recruit a Transport Consultant / Engineer to join our Development Planning team in Aldgate, London. We are looking to enhance and grow our teams with individuals that share our enthusiasm and determination to support our expanding workload.

Our Development teams work with private and public sector clients, architects, planners and other property professionals across all sectors throughout the development life cycle; providing services from site feasibility through to completion. We undertake Transport Assessments, Travel Plans, support our Environmental colleagues in preparing Environmental Impact Assessments, and provide key transport inputs to the development of Travel Demand Management Strategies, Preliminary and Detailed Designs, Spatial Planning and Masterplanning.

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate experience and capability of the technical analysis to support this type of work, with strong written and oral communication skills which we would continue to develop. We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic about working on a range of projects which support development at various stages of its life and is aware of the changing transport landscape in which we work.

Job responsibilities:

*

Supporting the delivery of Transport Assessments, Transport Statements, Travel Plans, Masterplans and other technical reports to support development

*

Working with other members of the Development Planning team, private and public sector clients, architects, planners and other professionals throughout the development life cycle;

*

Working with the Team Leader and Project Manager to ensure projects are delivered to budget and that KPIs are met;

*

Supporting and attending meetings including negotiations with Local Authorities and other regulatory bodies.

*

Interprets and applies applicable government codes, ordinances and regulations.

*

Initiates actions necessary to correct deficiencies or violations of regulations.

*

Assists with updates and maintenance of Comprehensive Plan, transportation plan and land development regulations.

*

Acts as a liaison between community groups, government agencies, developers and elected officials in developing neighborhood plans.

*

Conducts review of various development applications, including plats, permits, site plans, variance requests and rezonings.

*

Conducts extensive research in specific or general project areas.

*

Writes and presents formal and technical reports, working papers and correspondence.

*

Identifies community problems, issues and opportunities in particular neighborhoods that could be mitigated through better community planning.

*

Develops long range plans for communities with common developmental issues.

*

Develops strategies to promote economic and community development, or efficient land use consistent with community goals.

*

Evaluates adequacy of community facilities in meeting current and projected needs.

*

Recommends priorities, schedules and funding sources to implement public improvements plan.

Minimum Requirements

*

Experience in the preparation of development related Transport Assessments, Travel Plans and Access Studies, technical design and Masterplanning;

*

Experience of industry standard junction capacity assessment applications such as Junctions and LINSIG, to a point where minimal supervision is required;

*

Understanding the relationships between transportation and planning policy and the current / emerging practices and technology which support the link between these two disciplines;

*

Some experience of liaising with clients, local authorities and other regulatory bodies;

*

Good interpersonal and communication skills and an ability to communicate well;

*

Good presentation and technical writing skills and a sound working competence in the use of MS Office products (including Excel and Word);

*

Ability to work effectively in an unsupervised environment, or working within a project team.

Preferred Qualifications

*

A degree in an analytical subject such as engineering, geography, mathematics, economics or similar.

*

Membership of a relevant professional institution (CIHT, CILT, IHE, TPS, ICE).

*

A masters degree in a relevant subject is desirable, but is not essential
