Opportunity for an enthusiastic Trainee/Graduate Electrical Engineer to join our experienced multidisciplinary team of circa 35 staff in Plympton, working from a converted barn at the foot of Dartmoor, Plymouth, Devon, PL7 5BP (this is just north of the A38 and we have plenty of free on-site car parking).

Hydrock is an independently owned multidisciplinary consultancy, of circa 500 staff, operating out of 17 offices. It is one of The Sunday Times 100 Best Companies to Work For and a champion of well-being (note our recent Health and Wellbeing Leader of the Year award at the NCE100). You can check out our values here. We are currently growing at 10% per annum. We believe part of our success is looking after our people and our values help create a unique, dynamic, working environment.

The team and the role

Our Building Performance Engineering business offers the expertise required for world-class environmental design of buildings including acoustics, building physics, mechanical and electrical systems, lighting design, BIM, occupational analysis, public health engineering, and low-to-zero carbon technologies.

As a Trainee/Graduate Engineer with Hydrock you will work as part of a close knit, fun and highly motivated team. You will work on exciting projects whilst developing your knowledge and take on the challenge of a diverse range of duties. You’ll collaborate with everyone in the organisation at all levels and won’t get bored! You will also have the freedom and opportunity to develop your skills to suit your ambitions.

Your role will include:

* Use of Revit and 3D BIM modelling software in design production
* Design co-ordination with other professional disciplines
* Lighting calculations using Dialux/Relux
* Cable calculations and Distribution Board Schedules using Amtech
* Utilising regulations, standards and guidance documents to produce electrical system designs
* Participating in design team and client meetings
* Attending site visits.

The attributes we expect you to bring to the role and company:

We are keen to speak to bright and ambitious graduates interested in developing a career in a forward thinking, challenging and exciting environment. You should ideally:

* Be driven, hardworking, productive and determined
* Willing and eager to learn new skills
* Possess strong IT competences, an ability to problem solve and find solutions to the challenges new software packages bring
* Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Revit/3D BIM knowledge is an advantage but not required
* Previous industry related work experience is an advantage but not required.

What can you expect?

A good team, office and employer. We take pride in working with our clients to achieve outstanding results and we will provide you with all the tools and support you need to achieve your career development ambitions, including working towards and attaining professional Chartership.

The remuneration package will include a competitive salary and employer pension contribution, 25 days annual leave (with the option to buy/sell up to five days), well-being bonus and a wide variety of flexible benefits. There are also little things like a paid day off for good causes and free fresh fruit in every office.

A career with Hydrock offers you the chance to achieve your potential in a strongly people-focused and values-led business that provides great opportunities for professional and personal development.

Hydrock is an Equal Opportunities Employer.
