As the Traffic Engineer, you will be responsible for the delivery of traffic engineering, local transport, urban design/streetscape schemes in our Traffic and Local Roads team, with a particular focus on cycling infrastructure.

The team provides concept, feasibility, preliminary and detailed design as well as associated scheme assessment services on a wide range of traffic and road safety engineering projects and also supports other AECOM business lines where their projects have a highway interface. Our Local Roads team is primarily involved with providing professional and technical support to the MHA Framework, although it provides support to a variety of other clients and also includes road safety auditing and collision investigation.

Our clients are from the private and public sector and include Highways England, Derbyshire County Council, Leicestershire County Council and Manchester Airport.

Job Duties:

*

Undertake traffic engineering studies from feasibility to preliminary design

*

Assist in the preparation of fee proposals and contribute to major bids

*

Ensure technical content and quality of output produced is in line with the project brief

*

Manage sub-consultants to produce deliverables against agreed timescales and in line with budget

*

Share knowledge and support the wider team

*

Use knowledge of relevant Health and Safety regulations to promote a culture of awareness within the team

*

Following successful accreditation on the AECOM project management system act as a Project Manager including monitoring financial performance. Comprehensive training on AECOM’s project management system will be provided

*

Assist with the preparation preliminary or detailed design and project delivery of traffic engineering, local transport, urban design/streetscape and local authority/municipal highway schemes

*

Assist with the preparation of detailed technical reports providing specialist technical contributions as required

*

Attend Project Progress meetings as and when required.

Minimum Requirements

*

Good Knowledge of AUTOCAD and Microsoft office suite of programs

*

Appreciation of traffic modelling and ability to interrogate outputs

*

Experience of applying DMRB and the principles of Manual for Streets, and Civils 3D design

*

Demonstrate experience and knowledge of developing feasibility and preliminary design schemes

*

Knowledge and experience in some of the following aspects: cycling, walking, bus priority, traffic calming, parking and junction design

*

Knowledge of local and national design standards

*

Full Driving license is not essential but would be beneficial

Preferred Qualifications

* HNC in Civil Engineering or equivalent qualification in an analytical subject such as Engineering, Mathematics or Geography
