OUR MISSION:

Through collaborative development with pipeline owners and empowering innovation within our people we aim to make corrosion resistant pipeline products that reduce asset lifetime cost, maximise asset uptime and facilitate Enhanced Oil Recovery to maximise reservoir value.We will focus on quality and safety in the delivery of our sustainable pipeline systems and will ensure service excellence through continuous improvement.

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Due to an internal promotion, Swagelining are looking to recruit a Senior Development Engineer to join our Technical Development Group.

We are currently active on a number of Research and Development (R&D) projects targeted at disrupting the pipeline business through expanding the application of our technology to drive down the cost of pipeline construction and ownership. The Senior Development Engineer role is pivotal to the success of this relentless drive to develop industry changing technology.

Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality (HSEQ)

Working in accordance with company HSEQ policies and procedures, the Senior Development Engineer will provide advice and guidance to all departments concerning HSEQ aspects related to the procurement, processing and testing of polymer materials and products.

Engineering Activities

Engineering responsibilities will include -

* Providing engineering guidance and advice on aspects relating of polymer materials, products and testing to other business units

* Management of research and development projects ensuring activities are completed in a timely, diligent and professional manner

* Ensures products are developed to the required quality requirements whilst considering risk, operational needs and fit for use, reliability and function.

* Use of statistical methods to ensure robust testing of products or processes

* Analysis and reporting of test results

* Development of test methods for new products and materials

* Provides support to the company’s intellectual property strategy

* Keeps abreast of latest developments in polymer technology

* Mentor or guide less experienced engineers

Business Development Support

This role will provide technical support to the company’s Business Development function as required. Enquiries or requests for clarifications received from the marketplace shall be forwarded to the Senior Development Engineer for review and consideration in the preparation of a response back to existing or potential clients. The Senior Development Engineer may also be required to develop, publish and present technical papers or participate in Client facing presentations to support the company’s efforts to promote its services and secure new projects.

Operations and Project Support

The Senior Development Engineer will provide a continuous support to projects as follows:-

* Contract Review

* Liner Design Report

* Procurement Support

* Pre-Qualification Testing

* Site Engineering Support

* Liner Pull-in and Reversion Management

* Liner Termination and Connectors

* Software Inputs

PERSON SPECIFICATION:

Education:

Degree or MSc in a polymer related subject (Polymer Materials, Engineering, Science or equivalent) (Essential)

PhD in a polymer related subject (Desirable)

Chartered Engineer (Desirable)

Skills:

Thorough understanding of polymer materials and their properties

Capable of leading projects from concept through to completion

Ability to set and manage budgets and schedules

Strong mathematical and analytical capabilities

Capable of writing and presenting protocols, reports and technical presentations

Comfortable communicating at all levels internally and externally including clients and suppliers

Proficient in the following IT software packages: Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.

Can work on own or as part of a team

Experience:

Must have previous polymer engineering work based experience (Essential)

Experience of managing small to medium R&D and operational projects (Essential)

Work based experience of polymer pipe design and/ or manufacture (Desirable)

Work based experience within a polymer material manufacturing company (Desirable)

Work based experience of polymer product design and/ or manufacture (Desirable)

Work based experience in the oil and gas industry (Desirable)

Travel Requirements:

Must be able to travel to site locations globally in support of the company’s projects. Estimated travel 10-20%.
