Test Development Engineer

Job Description

The Role of a Bioquell Test Development Engineer is to support, grow and continuously improve the manufacturing of world class decontamination equipment.

He/she will be the critical support of product test department and will be responsible for growing and developing the testing function to improve efficiencies, reduce rework and better the product.

This person will support the NPI process, design and implement new test rigs and procedures.

This person will be responsible for all factory qualification documentation, understanding trends, analysing data and reporting at high level with opportunities for improvement.

To support all test development and improvement activities related to NPI and current products.

NPI

* Champion design for test within the design review process – attend design reviews – secure engagement sufficiently early enough to influence product design.

* Identify opportunities for integrated testing of modules to complement/reduce requirement for final product testing.

* Work with development function to specify and produce/source test equipment sufficient for prototype test through to factory test ensuring suitability, robustness, data retrieval, efficiency, and H&S considerations are met.

* Work with development function to produce appropriate software capable of meeting the test requirements of the product/module and ensuring ease of use and data retrieval objectives are met.

* Work within own team – Production Engineering – to ensure line layouts and footprint development activities adequately account for test activities.

* Assist in the development of the Factory Qualification Test protocols for products and modules ensuring URS requirements are met within the protocol.

* Write up test procedures for use by test/production personnel in the form of work instructions.

Current Products

* Continually review current in house test yields through the systematic analysis of test data / results identifying opportunities to improve integrity of testing (FTY 100%), simplify test procedures increase efficiencies, and reduced footprint.

* Support QC/QA functions to regularly review field failure data and identify test related problems with the aim of reducing the frequency of product failure and warranty returns.

* Act as the key point of contact for all test related enquiries within the factory and supply chain.

* Identify opportunities for integrated testing of modules to complement/reduce requirement for final product testing.

* Develop preventative and reactive maintenance procedures for all test equipment and manage via a yearly schedule – be a point of contact/support for scheduled calibration activities.

General

* Support the production engineering team and manufacturing operations activities as required.

Key skills required for the position

* At least 3 years proven track record within an electro-mechanical test development role.

* HNC level or equivalent in an engineering discipline.

* SW programming/debug experience. (C coding would be desirable)

* PLC programming (Siemens Step 7)

* Electronic design build and debug skills.

* Able to read mechanical, wiring and circuit diagrams.

* Able to diagnose complex electro-mechanical equipment from system down to component level.

* Extensive experience using various test and diagnostic equipment.

* Experienced in data analysis and root cause identification and introduction of lean manufacturing/cell based techniques(kaizen)

* Able to work under his/her own initiative.

* High standard of numeracy and literacy.

* Ability & willingness to be flexible with working hours/ shift at short notice.

* Communicating and presenting data effectively

* Proficient in the use of MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint
