With a growing team of 550+ staff, working across our 12 Rail design offices throughout the UK we are continuing to add to our already extensive and impressive list of project awards.

The role

Due to increased workload we are seeking to recruit an A Telecoms Systems Engineer. The successful candidate will undertake Telecoms design, working within a Telecoms engineering team. In addition, they will manage elements of a Telecoms project.

As a Telecoms Systems Engineer at Amey Consulting, you’ll see your work from early design to the very end result, and every project will be different from the last. In a typical week you will:

• Actively contributing to site surveys, including planning, inspection of equipment and condition monitoring
• Collating technical information from surveys, inspections and other sources
• Demonstrating a good understanding of the design process
• Ability to undertake design and assessment work
• Engaging in CDM/risk analyses
• Undertaking designs to a level that complies with Network Rail, British and European Standards
• Keep up to date with current FTN, NR, RSSB and British standards relevant Telecoms design
• Preparing design and assessment reports
• Producing design drawings using CAD
• Support the design team during design submissions
• Effective communication with other design/construction disciplines and sub-contractors
• Produce mark ups and sketches for CAD technicians
• Developing and mentoring junior staff

We want to hear from you if:

• HNC/HND or equivalent but relevant experience may be accepted in lieu
• IRSE Designer Licence
• Corporate Membership of the IRSE (desirable)
• Relevant experience in the design of Telecoms layouts, with a good knowledge of conventional technologies and the interface to processor-based systems.
• Successful experience in leading design teams or supervising junior engineers
• A good knowledge of rail industry practice and familiarity with railway standards is essential
• Experience with Operational Telecommunications, Station information and Security Systems (SISS) and SCADA Telecoms
• PTS trained
