TECHNICAL SALES REPRESENTATIVE

Field based

The Banks Group develops, with care, land for a variety of uses including surface coal mining; property and renewable energy. It is a family owned, County Durham based, business employing around 340 people across the north of England and Scotland.

Banks Plant Solutions provides plant and equipment service, maintenance and management for the businesses across the North East of England, Cumbria and North Yorkshire.

As part of The Banks Group, Banks Plant Solutions benefits from more than 40 years’ experience owning, maintaining and managing a diverse fleet of heavy plant, construction and ancillary equipment.

We employ our ‘maintenance with care’ ethos, thorough high-quality plant maintenance, to a wide range of industries and sectors. We have an experienced and skilled mobile plant and equipment engineering team have extensive experience with many original equipment manufacturers’ machinery including Caterpillar, Komatsu, Volvo, and JCB. Our team regularly work on equipment ranging from large 500 tonne hydraulic excavators to small ancillary plant.

THE OPPORTUNITY:

Reporting to the Plant Director the Technical Sales Representative (TSR) will be customer facing and capable of providing plant service, repair and rebuild solutions through a consultative sales approach. The role will be primarily based in the field ensuring accounts are managed, expectations are met, and relationships are forged to enable the business to progress, grow and to increase revenue and profitability.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Applications are invited from candidates who have a minimum of two years’ experience in plant equipment / product support / aftermarket sales. An in depth understanding of markets and industries specific to plant equipment and a mechanical background is required.

A proven track record of achieving sales and margin targets is essential to the success of the TSR, along with strong negotiation skills.

You will have strong communication skills and must hold a full driving license. You will be a strong commercial thinker with true commitment to customer service excellence.

It would be desirable, but not essential, if you are educated to degree level or an equivalent qualification with concentration in business and/or marketing.

PERSONAL QUALITIES/COMPETENCIES:

• Customer champion – good listener, consistently delivers on their commitments and promises, and knows when to accept and when to challenge

• Ability to demonstrate strong attention to detail

• Good judgement, showing logical decision making, and a hands-on approach

• Ability to concentrate on different tasks at the same time

• Ability to work with minimum or no supervision

• Ability to role model actions and behaviours consistent with the company values

• First class communication skills with the ability to liaise with senior management and technical functions

• A good team player capable of delivering excellent results under pressure and to strict deadlines

• A positive ‘can do’ enthusiastic attitude towards addressing the technical challenges relating to Banks Plant Solutions

• Flexible & responsive

• Comfortable with regular travel, sometimes at short notice

• Entrepreneurial, pragmatic, resilient and tough
