What is the purpose of the role?
Your role is to ensure the delivery of work within three teams within the above ground planning and scheduling Teams within our water production teams.
What makes this role unique?
This is an excellent opportunity to join our busy above ground wastewater planning & scheduling team. You will have a direct line into operations, wastewater control and work with asset information and be responsible for leading the way by providing excellent service to c500 field technicians and a team of c50 performance managers. In the role you will be responsible for the management of up to 25 planners, schedulers and team managers, ensuring they are meeting all company and operational targets. Your input will also affect the continuous improvement of processes and procedures. This role is an exciting opportunity for someone that is looking for variety. This role will involve a mixture of directly managing a team of managers to ensure the successful delivery of business as usual and driving continuous improvement. What will this role involve?
Lead and drive continuous improvement across planning and scheduling by identifying and evaluating areas for improvements which add value.
Working closely with project managers to deliver all change initiatives as set out in our transformation plan. Improve the efficiency of existing services and explore opportunities to maximise best practice.
Managing all aspects of performance and people and supporting the wider management team with BAU activities.
Identify, prioritise and make recommendations to the planning and scheduling leadership team on process improvements and then work with the project manager to manage implementation plans to ensure delivery, establishing clear milestones and checkpoints to monitor progress.
Work closely with the functional leads to identify and resolve root causes that prevent planning and scheduling from meeting required service levels/ customer expectations, managing the issues through to a successful conclusion or escalate to the appropriate person if unable to influence.
Establish self as the key link between the business (field operations) and planning and scheduling for projects/initiatives that require a business input.
Ensuring the wellbeing aspects of all changes are understood and compliance with the H&S management of change process.
Acting as a trusted advisor to key stakeholders.
What are we looking for?
The ideal candidate will be experienced in managing a complex workload within different teams as well as having a good understanding of work management processes and systems (SAP, Click, etc). A track record of driving transformation and embedding continuous improvement would be advantageous. Ideally some industrial field experience with understanding of typical maintenance and operational tasks would be advantageous. Ideally having some experience in leading large planning operations for work across multiple, complex processes/sites, over large geographical areas. Strong relationship management and team working with track record of working across business functions, and with executives, to deliver end to end process improvement is essential. The ideal candidate will have the ability to lead and develop large teams with a track record of delivering exceptional performance. Highly resilient with track record of managing ambiguity, with the ability to improvise and overcome challenge.
Thames Water information and salary details
This role will be based in Reading at our Kemble Court offices and is offering a salary of up to £40,000 depending on experience.
