Would you like to be part
of an exciting programme, Spearfish is the UK Royal Navy’s front line anti-submarine and
anti-surface torpedo? We currently have a vacancy for a Systems Performance
Engineer at our site in Broad Oak.

As a Systems Performance
Engineer, you will help define the future of global maritime defence
capabilities. Modern
submarines require sophisticated defensive and offensive underwater weapons to
engage a wide range of surface and subsurface targets. Wire guided torpedoes
provide this capability and Spearfish is one of the most powerful and capable
wire guided torpedoes on the market.

This role will provide you
with exciting opportunities to gain further exposure across
the business, there is also scope to develop your technical
knowledge and eventually progress to Team Leader as well as other areas of BAE
Systems.

Your main responsibilities
as a Systems Performance Engineer will involve:

Developing algorithms and
functional designs to meet overall system capabilities and high level
requirements.

This includes the
integration of designs from other systems and/or newly developed techniques
from research programmes

Defining and specifying
torpedo design modules for software implementation and verification

Design proving, sub-system
integration and compliance reporting

Developing and integrating
weapon and sonar environment models and validating torpedo simulators

Using torpedo simulations
to conduct Effectiveness Assessments, trade off studies and validation

Your skills and
qualifications:

Essential:

Systems Analysis skills –
understanding how a system works

Knowledge on how to improve
/ create systems and sub systems design

Experience in using and
developing computer software

General interest in science
and Engineering technologies

Educated to degree level in
Engineering or Science related discipline or equivalent employment experience

Desirable:

Knowledge of Electronics

Software development skills
