Systems Engineering Manager

You will be working in development team alongside a Programme Manager, Product Design Authority and Architect leading a team of mixed function engineers to deliver programmes to time, cost, quality and safety.

Key responsibilities

* Engineering leadership of programme interfacing with customers, senior management, internal departments, suppliers and sub-contractors
* Responsible for the delivery of product and documentation in line with programme schedule
* Responsible for preparing and managing bids
* Responsible for the production and updating of engineering management plans (e.g. SEMP, IVVQ)
* Reviewing technical documentation including specifications, plans, technical reports and compliance statements
* Management and control of engineering work packages
* Identification and management of resourcing needs
* Developing Product Line Engineering
* Setting priorities and making reasoned decisions
* Reporting and managing risks and opportunities
* Leading a multi-discipline team which could extend across multiple sites
* Managing Safety Certification of products

Skills, qualifications and experience

* Enthusiastic about modern defence systems
* Experience working in an avionics environment and airworthiness (desirable)
* Experience of designing for safety and security
* Experience of working with technical requirements, statements of work, integration, verification and validation, acceptance criteria.
* Experience of writing technical documentation (plans, specifications, statements of work, reports)
* Experience with managing/contributing to bids.
* Awareness of current legislation around REACH, ROHS, WEEE and COSHH
* Awareness of accreditation standards including AS9100 and DAOS.
* Excellent communications skills, both verbally and written with the ability to present and explain technical and complex problems tailored appropriately for the audience
* Experience of IBM DOORS (vs 9.6 or later) (desirable)
* You will have a Bachelor Degree (BEng, BSc) in a Numerate, Scientific or Engineering subject or Higher Education/equivalent training and experience. Masters Degree (MEng, MSc) or postgraduate level in Engineering, Physics or Mathematics-related subject is an advantage
* SC Cleared
