QinetiQ's Systems Engineers are renowned for providing high quality technical solutions, independent advice and seeding world-leading products and services. We are looking for people to join our growing team of Systems Engineers who are interested in developing and applying their professional expertise, whilst growing deep or multi-domain knowledge, in support of our customers across the UK and abroad.

Opportunities to work in the following Domains and Activities
• Control, Communications and Information systems (radio, voice, video, data, control)
• Situational Awareness systems (radar, RF, acoustics, optics, sensing)
• Cyber and Security, Secure Networks, Mission Information and Data systems
• Systems of systems - architecture, design, verification and acceptance
• Training Systems and supporting infrastructure
a. Distributed Secure Networks
b. Simulation and Synthetic Environments
c. Simulation and stimulator development
d. Live, Virtual and Constructive training

Key Responsibilities (the balance of these will be project dependent)
1) Lead, or be part of, work packages, projects and systems engineering activities, ensuring the technical system is delivered as fit for purpose and safe for use, by applying systems engineering skills in the planning and delivery of the output through its lifecycle.
2) Deliver technical output (reports, design documentation such as requirements, interface documents, test plans etc), rapidly assimilating knowledge of the subject matter from the multi-disciplinary technical team and reference material.
3) Engage with broader stakeholder communities, gathering, documenting and understanding their requirements
4) Plan and deliver assurance events, documentation and ensure information traceability to enable certification and acceptance of technical output.
5) Plan and deliver integration and test events, ensuring that evidence can be gathered in a cost-effective way to support solution acceptance.
6) Seek professional guidance and skill development through learning on the job and professional networks, to develop your own professional and domain or multi-domain specialism.
7) Support/ Lead the definition of technical work plan, in conjunction with SMEs and project manager, advising on objectives, milestones, resource needs, task breakdowns and dependencies, seeking clarification on budgets and contractual constraints.
8) Identify risks and support technical risk management, eg occurrence, impact, mitigations.
9) Identify potential issues such as delivery problems, lack of input information etc.

Particular experience required - a mix of some or all of:
1) Simulation systems and synthetic environments
2) Secure network fundamental architecture and components
3) Systems engineering tools, techniques, models and frameworks
4) Control, Communications and information systems
5) Secure distributed systems architectures and designs
6) Prototype hardware, product or service delivery; their innovation and development

Essential Personal Qualities and Behaviour Requirements
• Analytical and logical thinking skills
• Rapid assimilation of new technologies and work with minimal supervision
• Good questioning, listening, influencing and general interpersonal skills
• Well-developed oral, written communication and presentation skills
• Can adapt and work flexibly; content to lead some tasks and be a team member on others
• Flexibility to travel in support project activities
• Able to work on several projects and or tasks at a time; some projects can support part-time or flexible working.
• Self-motivated, with an inclusive collaborative approach

Experience and qualifications
• Degree or equivalent in a relevant engineering or technical discipline, or proven experience working in an equivalent engineering role. (Typ. IT / Networks / Communication / Simulation / Systems Engineering / Physics / Maths / Mechanical / Aerospace or other Engineering).
• Professional qualification (eg IEng) and active professional society membership
