Thales UK has an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual to join our Systems Engineering Team in Crawley, West Sussex This role will be working within one of or growing business units, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR); this team is the principle supplier of Unmanned Air Systems including the Watchkeeper programme and Electronic Warfare equipment such as the Crowsnest programme to the UK Royal Navy, as well as exporting to a number of foreign sovereignties.
This role would suit a Graduate ready to complete their studies in 2019, looking to kick start their career, or individuals with foundational experience in a related Engineering discipline with a desire to undertake a role in System Engineering.

About the role:
Working and supported by our team of experts, you will take on a variety of responsibilities which will form part of the core of your development. You will collaborate with wider Engineering teams in Crawley, as well as working with teams across other locations. Key duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
* Preparation of requirement and design specifications
* Studies into technologies and architectures for autonomous systems, Smart Sensors and analysis of unstructured data
* Preparation of Technical Statements of Work for equipment suppliers
* Preparation of Integration, Verification, Validation and Qualification (IVVQ) plans
* Execution of tests and live system trials, then analysis of the collected data
* Liaise and communicate effectively at meetings with stakeholders and customers
This role presents ample opportunity to learn and develop in Systems Engineering; unlike our Graduate programme you will not rotate around on placement.
Skills, experience & qualifications

We are open to all applications from individuals who have a real interest to learn and succeed in a career in Systems Engineering with either relevant education or experience in a relevant scientific discipline e.g. systems, software, hardware, electrical/electronics, mechanical, communications etc. We would not expect anyone to hold all of the below, but below are some of the key attributes we are looking for in our Systems Engineer:
* Demonstrable experience working as part of a team
* Problem solving skills in complex systems of systems,
* Strong analytical abilities with a methodical approach
* Ability to learn complex ideas quickly and efficiently
* Personal drive and ambition to develop systems engineering skills
* MatLab, or equivalent, experience
* Knowledge of time- and frequency-domain signal analysis and microwave engineering would be advantageous
This vacancy also requires the individual to be able to obtain full Security Clearance (SC).
