About the role
Balfour Beatty has an exciting opportunity for a System Engineer - SCS to join our Power Transmission & Distribution business based in Leeds.
Role Purpose:
* The main function of the role is to support the Substation Control System Engineers in the implementation of Substations projects; with the primary function based on the testing, site installation and fault-finding activities (SSSC).
What you'll be doing
On a day to day basis you will be responsible for:
* Developing, reading and understanding test documentation in relation to control panel equipment i.e. HIM, BCUs, GE Communication devices, SDN switches, etc;
* Undertaking testing of equipment in relation to equipment FAT testing;
* Reading and interoperating design information, such as; drawings, specifications and documents;
* Attending site for client DSSs, site installation and commissioning relating to the Control Systems projects;
* Testing equipment for faults;
* Working as part of the SSSC team as an On-Call engineer, fault finding and rectifying.
Who we're looking for
Personal Qualities and Experience:
Essential
* Experience in Substation Control Systems;
* Familiar with quality assurance, business processes and applications;
* Knowledge of GE Control Systems/SDN/BCUs
* Possess excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational skills;
* Holds HNC degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or similar;
Desirable
* Preferably has knowledge of IEC--******protocol;
* Preferably has a background working in the Substation Control System design sector with the ability to understand and implement the requirements of Substation Control System configuration works from a testing perspective;
* Preferably has site experience on National Grid sites.;
* Must work well and confidently both individually and as part of a team;
* Must work well under pressure and to deadlines.
