Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is currently recruiting for a Subsea Controls System Engineer to support current and future workload within the TCS Subsea Team.

The role involves a combination of skills including subsea controls system design, installation, commissioning, maintenance and diagnosis. As part of this role the Subsea Controls System Engineer would be responsible for discreet work-package delivery from vendors on the Client’s behalf including package and equipment interface management. It is expected that the applicant will have knowledge or experience in a number of these areas.

The successful applicant will assist our Senior, Lead and Principal Engineers in developing and/or delivering work scopes as allocated by the Subsea Controls Systems Team Leader under the guidance of the Business Manager. Typical workscopes include; Subsea Controls Engineering for Concept, FEED, Detailed Design and Operations Technical support.

This role may require periods of secondment into a Client’s offices within the Aberdeen locale as Client support scopes dictate. Offshore, national and international workscopes will form part of the expected duties on occasion.

This opportunity is open to early career candidates holding the necessary qualifications, with base to moderate experience and looking to develop their knowledge and skillset.

Skills / Qualifications

Required Qualifications, Experience and Competence:

* Engineer with a minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Electronic, Mechatronic, Aeronautical, Subsea Engineering or other similar disciplines relating to upstream oil and gas (or offshore renewables) from a recognised university;
* Preference will be given to candidates with previous experience in the UK upstream oil and gas industry, gained before, during or after their university courses;
* Chartered Engineer or working towards chartered status desirable;
* Proven ability to communicate and present at all levels;
* Demonstratable recent electrical design and fault finding experience is essential;
* Experience in power cable design and electrical analysis techniques is preferable;
* Electrical Trace Heating and/or Direct Electrical Heating experience is desirable but not a prerequisite.

* Strong communication and report writing skills;
