Structural Engineer - Leeds

A new opportunity has arisen for a Structural Engineer in our Leeds office. Working on a number of high-profile and technically challenging projects, this position will give you a great opportunity to further develop your career in a global community of driven, world leading engineering professionals.

BuroHappold's Leeds Building Structures team have contributed to some of the most iconic projects in the North of England and Midlands in recent years, including The Library of Birmingham, One Angel Square, and Trinity Shopping Centre, and with current workload spanning the cultural, sport, residential, commercial, restoration and education sectors, we can offer our engineers all the opportunity necessary to develop and grow as consultants and technical specialists.

What will I be doing?

Naturally the role of a Structural Engineer can be very varied but this role will ask you to:

* Undertake detailed engineering design working on a variety of commissions in the North of England;

* Preparing technical schedules, reports, designs and sketches at a variety of project workstages

* Plan and help manage CAD documentation and BIM models of design work, by working closely with BuroHappold Technicians

* Represent BuroHappold at meetings with the client, other professionals and suppliers.

* Ensuring service and project work are carried out within agreed deadlines and within budget, developing a commercial awareness and beginning to manage financial aspects of projects.

* Ensure that appropriate service/design decisions are met, consulting with internal and external mentors and stakeholders where appropriate.

More about you...

As an experienced Structural Engineer, we would expect that you will be able to demonstrate:

* Some experience of structural design engineering, ideally working with significant building structures.

* Graduate or full member of professional institution, working towards professional registration/’chartered status’

* Ability to accept a degree of responsibility in a team-based organisation, combined with ability to work independently.

* Experience using common analysis software (including or similar to CSC Fastrak, TEDDS, ROBOT, ETABS and SAFE and willingness to quickly learn to use new analysis packages as required required.

* Keen interpersonal skills with the ability to propose multiple solutions to Clients and objectively summarise the benefits and shortfalls of each.

* Master’s degree MEng / MSc that meets the engineering academic requirements for chartership.
