About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Engineer to join the Lighting & Energy Solutions team. This is a fantastic opportunity to develop your Lighting career in a multi-disciplined technology environment.

WSP are fully committed to Continued Professional Development and the WSP Lighting & Energy Solutions team are actively involved within the Institution of Lighting Professionals at regional and national levels.

A typical week would include:

As an Engineer you will be accountable for quality engineering input to projects and you will provide a valuable contribution toward the development of graduate and junior engineers and show a willingness to develop your own technical knowledge and understanding.

The principal accountabilities for the role include:

* Detailed exterior lighting design for:

*

* Highways including motorways, transport, infrastructure, city beautification and residential areas

* Industrial facilities

* Decorative lighting projects

* Sports facilities

* Car parks

* Amenity areas

* Conducting site surveys to determine the existing infrastructure pre-design and lighting assessments for environmental impact and obtrusive lighting assessments

* Production of Environmental Lighting Impact Assessment reports

* Involvement in the production and updating of client policies and procedures

* Ensuring projects are delivered in accordance with company and client quality requirements

* Technical liaison with clients, specialised contractors and stakeholders

* Business Development including attendance at CPD events, exhibitions and seminars

We'd love to hear from you if you have:

The successful candidate will hold a professional qualification in Electrical Engineering and be a member of the Institution of Lighting Professionals (preferably AMILP / MILP or working towards these qualifications)

* Completion or part completion of the ILP’s Lighting Exterior Lighting Diploma or equivalent would be desirable

* HERS Registration would be desirable

* Experience in lighting design and understanding of relevant British and EU Standards and legislation including Health & Safety

* Experience with completing detailed site inspections / surveys

* Experience of undertaking lighting impact assessments and traffic sign design would also be desirable.

* Technical report writing skills

* Computer skills including a working knowledge of proprietary lighting, signing and electrical design programmes such as:

* AMTECH

* Lighting Reality (Area and Road)

* AGi32

* AutoCAD

In addition, the role requires clear communication skills and the individual must be self-motivated and able to plan their own workload to deliver projects to Clients timescales.
