We are seeking an individual with this experience and the vision to lead our rapidly growing stakeholder engagement practice in the UK.
You will be responsible for overall leadership of the team and responsibility for its strategic direction, financial performance and the development and wellbeing of the team. You will also provide strategic support and senior client liaison on a variety of projects.
The role reports to Environment and Sustainability Business Unit Director.
The team
With over 35 employees across the UK, AECOM’s Stakeholder Engagement team plays a key role in delivering major infrastructure and other development projects.
The team focusses on provision of engagement, consultation and communications services to support the consenting or construction phase of major development projects. We have been involved in a range of high-profile projects in the UK including:

HS2, Phases 1 and 2;
*
East West Rail;
*
Luton Airport expansion
*
Multiple major schemes for Highways England including: A303 Stonehenge, M54, A27 and A428;
*
Major infrastructure upgrade works at Waterloo and Kings Cross stations and on the Transpennine route for Network Rail and support for proposals to re-open the Northumberland Line to passenger services;
*
Multiple developments for Homes England across the UK;
*
Thames Tideway Tunnel for Thames Water; and
*
Multiple energy and waste management facilities across the UK.
The role
As leader of the AECOM’s Stakeholder Engagement practice in the UK, you will be responsible for overall leadership of the team and its strategic direction. Other responsibilities will include:
*
Overall financial and technical performance of the team;
*
Strategic leadership of new business and marketing initiatives and management of large bids;
*
Provision of strategic support and client liaison to help drive successful project outcomes;
*
Proactive promotion of AECOM’s stakeholder engagement service to both internal and external audiences; and
*
Working collaboratively with team’s across AECOM’s UK business to seek and realise opportunities.

Resource allocation, efficient delivery and project management of projects
*
Recruitment, development and wellbeing of all staff in the team;
*
Staff training, development and career planning
*
Line management and compensation planning
*
Client account management and business development
Minimum Requirements
*
Successful leadership of high-performing teams, with proven ability to build and maintain a collaborative culture;
*
Proven experience of successfully delivering stakeholder engagement, statutory consultation or communications support for multiple complex projects, ideally related to infrastructure development;
*
A passion for helping people develop and maximise their potential with proven ability to provide both one-to-one mentoring and ongoing guidance and technical advice to support more junior staff;
*
Passionate about delivering innovative and effective communications with exceptional personal communication skills;
*
Confident engaging with people in different sectors and disciplines, presenting to peers and clients and in managing difficult conversations with clients and colleagues; and
*
Willingness to travel and work flexibly.

Experience or interest in sectors relevant to AECOM’s business (environment, transport, energy, water, urban development);
