WHAT TO EXPECT

The SOTA & FOTA Capability Lead Engineer will report to the SOTA & CDS System Design Manager and be part of a multi-disciplinary systems engineering team which are responsible for the functional and behavioural definition of OTA functionality for current and future vehicle architectures. The SOTA & FOTA Capability Lead Engineer will be the assigned owner for specific areas of the overall Feature / Capability – and, therefore, act as the point of contact within the business for any enquiries about their area. They will be responsible for planning the development and continuous improvement within their area and for leading a small team of systems engineers to achieve the required delivery milestones.

The successful candidate will:

* Support the definition of Feature / Capability level requirements for the OTA functions.

* Be responsible for delivering candidate architectures that meet the needs of Feature / Capability.

* Lead the evaluation of candidate architectures.

* Support the model-based validation of candidate architectures.

* Be responsible for defining system and component level requirements for the selected architecture.

* Leading the delivery of failure mode analysis for the selected architecture.

* Lead the delivery of functional safety analysis for the selected architecture.

* Lead design and quality reviews with internal / external suppliers and teams.

* Support the definition of integration, verification, validation methods and tools.

* Support the analysis of defects and in-vehicle evaluation.

* Support the SOTA & CDS System Design Manager in the development of new processes and tools as required from time-to-time.

Key Objectives

* Ensure that system requirements for the assigned Feature / Capability have been defined and reviewed.

* Ensure that architectural models for the assigned Feature / Capability have been produced and reviewed.

* Ensure that all system requirements for the assigned Feature / Capability are traceable to upper requirements and into the architectural model and provide rationale.

* Ensure that the assigned Feature / Capability has been analysed from a Failure Mode Analysis perspective.

* Ensure that the assigned Feature / Capability has been analysed from a Functional Safety perspective.

* Ensure that all change to the requirements / architecture are traceable and managed.

* Produce regular metrics for system engineering workproducts status and quality measures.

* Propose measures to continuously evaluate and improve the Feature / Capability.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required

* Relevant experience of system definition, system architecture development, requirements specification, design/performance modelling, systems integration, system assessment and acceptance.

* Understanding of automotive software download and diagnostic concepts.

* High proficiency in requirements definition and requirements management tools (ideally DOORS).

* High proficiency in model-based systems engineering tools and techniques (ideally Enterprise Architect, Rhapsody, Simulink).

* Broad understanding of a range of different vehicle electrical systems and architectures.

* Experience of Failure Mode Analysis techniques.

* Experience of designing ISO26262 Functional Safety relevant systems.

* Experience of systems integration, verification, validation.

* Good verbal and written communications.

* Analytical and problem-solving skills.

* Track record as an effective team player with strong interpersonal skills.
