JOB DESCRIPTION:

Abbott Rapid Diagnostics is part of Abbott’s Diagnostics family of businesses, bringing together exceptional teams of experts and industry leading technologies to support diagnostic testing which provides important information for treatment and management of diseases and other conditions.

The position of Software Test Engineer I is within our Abbott Rapid Diagnostics Informatics, Inc. unit located in Bedford, UK. This role will be responsible for ensuring that system testing for our CONNECT Universal Gateway, Sympheos and associated technologies is completed on time and in accordance with internal and external regulatory requirements.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide ongoing testing and validation of the CONNECT Universal Gateway and Sympheos Products
Work with the ARDx Informatics team to develop and deploy Sympheos and CONNECT Universal Gateway
Work with external partners to ensure that any product deficiencies are reported and investigated
Adhere to regulatory standards associated with verification of medical systems
Support investigation of reported field issues to identify root cause
Attend regular development meetings with internal and external partners.
Provide test review feedback to foster testing best practices within the team
Assess Features to identify testing technical challenges, priorities and risks.
Interact with medical diagnostic instruments in the execution of manual tests
Translate feature requirements into testable user stories
Gain working knowledge of the underlying medical device protocols in use within our various instruments
Create automated and randomized test results by developing and expanding on the result generator.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS | EDUCATION:

High School qualifications (0 / CSE / GCSE Level)
Proficient with object-oriented programming
Demonstrated ability as a self-learner

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

University degree in Computer Science or related
Experience with Agile software development lifecycle
Capable crafting relational database scripts (SQL or equivalent)
Familiarity with software version control (Git or equivalent)
Experience with platform virtualization environments (ex. Azure or VMware)
Capable with XML, JSON, HTML, and CSS
Experience utilizing Agile development tools for project management and bug tracking (Eg. Jira or Redmine)
Experience testing RESTful API and competent with API testing tools (ex. Postman and Swagger)
Background with healthcare industry and associated technologies (eg. POCT1-A communication)
Familiar with object-oriented programming language (lua preferred)
