Preferred Qualifications

The Engineered Systems Development and Sustaining Team seek an experienced professional Python development engineer to maintain and develop our software infrastructure and deployment automation.

Oracle's Engineered Systems provide scalable database and application solutions that reduce the cost and complexity of IT infrastructures, while increasing productivity and performance.

Your role will be to ensure the continuous delivery of future sustaining product releases for both our SuperCluster and MiniCluster Engineered Systems products. You will work closely with members of our development, test and support teams to deliver timely product features and improvements, aligned with our regular product development and release schedules. Engineered systems integrate technologies from diverse areas including Operating Systems, Database and Storage technologies. This requires broad technological know-how and the ability to assimilate complicated technology stacks and product interoperability considerations. A key aspect of this role is interaction with other development teams and collaboration with our partners in Quality Engineering and Field Support.

As an experienced professional developer you will have extensive years of experience and expertise in several of the following key areas.

Experience in Solaris system, network, performance, storage and virtualization technologies.

Experience with Python web frameworks such Django.

Experience with Python automation, test frameworks, and test automation.

Familiarity with Oracle Database software configuration and patching.

Service orientation and proven skills in collaboration across development, test and support organizations.

Analytical ability, root-cause analysis skills, data/metrics collection and technical troubleshooting experience.

Experience with configuration management software, system tuning, instrumentation and creative debugging skills.

Experience with development using SQL and a relational database.

Experience with source code version control systems such as mercurial or git.Detailed Description and Job Requirements

Design, develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks etc.

As a member of the software engineering division, you will take an active role in the definition and evolution of standard practices and procedures. You will be responsible for defining and developing software for tasks associated with the developing, designing and debugging of software applications or operating systems.

Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization. Leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 7 years of software engineering or related experience.
