About the role

Here at Milton Keynes Waste Recovery Park, we treat the household waste that was previously being sent to landfill. The advanced thermal treatment capacity is 93,600 tonnes per year.

Through anaerobic digestion and advanced thermal treatment technologies, the facility will export around 5.8MW of electricity to the National Grid per year - which is enough energy to power the equivalent of around 11,000 homes - similar to the number of households in Wolverton and Newport Pagnell combined

As well as a Competitive Salary, we provide a generous holiday allowance and a wider benefits scheme. We also offer access to training and development and each role follows a career path framework.

What will this role involve?

* Safe and efficient operation of the Plant during steady state, start up, shutdown and emergency situations.

* Ensure day-to-day compliance with all aspects of the Environmental Permit, reporting to the ATT/ERF Shift Team Leader any non-compliance or incident for further reporting to the Principle Operations Manager, Compliance Manager, ATT/ERF Manager or his/her delegate

* Work within the company’s Health & Safety, Quality and Environmental Systems and all relevant legislation

* To be authorised under the Site Safety Rules to the level of Nominated Person and carry out the relevant responsibilities as such

* Participate in Company/Site HSEQ initiatives including the HSEQ forum activities and efficient reporting of close calls and accidents

* Liaise closely with the Maintenance Team to ensure the Plant is fully operational and running optimally.

* Create, implement and observe operational risk assessments and procedures

* Coach and mentor new site personnel on all aspects of ATT/ERF Plant operations and ensure they comply with all of the above

* Ensure all documentation, shift handovers, maintenance requests and associated supporting information is provided and recorded in a timely and consistent manner

What are we looking for?

* Previous experience working within the Energy from Waste environment on a rotating shift pattern

* Working to defined KPI deliverables such as waste throughput and power generation

* Evidence of a proficient level of practical O&M experience/knowledge

* Evidence of a proficient level of combustion and boiler process experience/knowledge

* National Diploma or NVQ L3 in a relevant subject would be expected as a minimum for this role, or demonstrable operation of an Energy from Waste facility(s)

* Experience working on complex operational sites previously

* Possesses the ability to work well in a high pressure environment whilst ensuring that Amey standards are upheld at all times

* A safety conscious individual who puts health and safety as the forefront of all decision making.
