The Opportunity

Senior Supply Chain Manager (Nuclear Services), London, Competitive Salary & Benefits

A new opportunity has arisen within our Supply Chain, at this time we are recruiting for a Senior Supply Chain Manager to support the Senior Supply Chain Lead, you will be the primary point of contact for all supply chain/commercial matters relating to a supplier/contract assigned. The Supply Chain directorate for SZC is now looking to establish its team of Supply Chain professionals responsible for the procurement/negotiation and subsequent commercial management of SZC’s main construction contracts. The construction contracts are categorised by Programme and are broadly: Equipment, Conventional Island, Nuclear Island, MEH, Main Civil Works and Enabling Works.

The role relates to the development, award and management of commercial agreements for the Responsible Designer of the Project through the establishment of a Nuclear Services / Engineering framework, the development of a Commercial Incentivisation model which will support the construction contracts, the development and implementation of a Project Delivery Organisation to support the delivery of the agreements across each of the construction categories.

Within the role you will be expected to:

* Work with the Supply Chain Lead in the development of the supply chain strategies in support of the delivery of the SZC Supply Chain programme specifically in respect, this will require a specific focus upon stakeholder engagement and buy in together with developing strong supplier engagement and relationship management.

* Promote the SZC Project, its values and behaviours and ensures that SZC Project requirements are met and successfully delivered, work closely and pro-actively with internal and external stakeholders at all levels, this includes working as part of a multi-disciplinary team within a technically complex Programme.

* Engage across the HPC Supply Chain team to ensure the lessons learnt from the project can be taken and adopted to the Sizewell C project across the area of the Engineering contract, the project delivery organisation and also the incentivisation of the supply base.

The Person

Senior Supply Chain Managers who can demonstrate collaborative working practices, promote continuous improvement and the SZC Project’s values will thrive in this role. Promoting the role of the Intelligent Customer and ensuring that requirements and expectations are met with regard to commercial probity, value and that the supply chain is treated fairly. The ideal candidate will promote a strong nuclear safety culture, the right level of oversight, control and surveillance of supplier activities.

Sizewell C (SZC) will be a next-of-a-kind nuclear power plant in Suffolk, England using the same technology and design as the Hinkley Point C (HPC) nuclear power plant under construction in Somerset. Due to the phase of the SZC Project (contract formation activity is starting), for the right individual this is a progressive role and provides the opportunity for growth (as responsibilities and accountabilities of the Senior Supply Chain Manager develop/progress as the SZC Project develops).

The Skills

* Educated to degree level is preferable.

* Proven ability of working within a complex major project/programme environment in both procurement and post-procurement phases.

* Effective Management and Leadership skills, with clear knowledge of best practice contract methodologies in the UK environment.

* Honed commercial skills and demonstrable ability to make sound decisions on complex matters (considering technical and commercial topics) of high financial value.

* Strong relationship management skills and the ability to work with key stakeholders at all levels across an organisation.

* A strong level of experience of standard forms of contract (NEC and FIDIC) within the power/construction industry on complex major projects/programmes.

* Possesses skills to act as deputy to either a Supply Chain Lead or Senior Supply Chain Lead as required.

* Familiar with the nuclear site licence conditions and an understanding of the UK regulatory framework.

* Understanding of UK and international supply chain within the nuclear sector.
