What is the purpose of this role?

To assist the Works and / or Project Manager in delivering allocated tasks safely in accordance with legislation and Amey Procedures to contract specification and programme, while effectively supervising and delivering tasks to the agreed resource and programme timescales.

This role is to focus on the non civils work stream on the SCM contract, so experience in HPWJ drain clearing is essential

What will this role involve?

* Supervise sub-contractors, contract staff and direct labour for allocated site activities

* Carry out performance reviews for direct reports, administering poor performance, attendance management and disciplinary procedures as applicable

* Adhere to the Amey Essentials as applicable

* Ensure that tool box talks, task briefs and COSS briefs are carried out for all work tasks prior to commencement of work for allocated contracts

* Ensure that all allocated tasks are undertaken in accordance with the planned safe method of working

* Promote safe working practices, ensure full implementation and compliance with safety responsibility statement below

* The role is one of site supervision and based generally in a site environment. It is a requirement of the role to attend site on a regular basis (including night time)

* Responsible for ensuring that all planned Safety Inspections are completed in accordance with the approved programme, and that identified actions are closed out in a timely manner.

* Participate in regular monthly safety meeting with Line Manager

* Hold monthly safety meeting with direct reports to include monthly cascade safety brief (where applicable)

* Ensure that accident / incident reporting and investigations are undertaken in a timely manner as instructed and in accordance with the safety management system, and that issues arising are addressed in a timely manner

* Ensure that stipulated PPE is worn by all staff in compliance with mandated procedures and legislation

* Ensure that mandatory training and competency certification for all site staff are valid and copies available

* Requirement to be on a 24/7 standby rota

* Due to the nature of our work environment it may be a requirement for you to support the contract at times of emergency or critical related work, in line with the needs of the contract and business in general.

* Responsible for ensuring gangs are effectively utilising the mobile devices this includes observational updates.

* Monitoring of workloads as required and to call in to the daily conference calls to ensure resource is available

* Ensure line of sight rules are followed including; calling the Gangs before the start of their shift, visiting Gangs daily to ensure quality is sustained, supporting gangs with difficult jobs

* Attend client Communication cells as and when required.

* Ensure W.I.P (Work in Progress) is monitored and maintained and liaise with the commercial team

* Carry out site safety audits and ensure gangs are working safely (16 per month minimum).

* Monitor and respond to customer chase calls in a timely manner ensuring no repeat chase calls are received.

* Participate in weekly performance and safety meeting with Project Manager

* Attend all confirmed Internal and Pollution incidents

* Attend weekly repeat flooding meetings with the client
