Job Description

 

Established for over 45 years, Velden is seeking a highly skilled & experienced Sheet Metal Programming Engineer. This is an excellent opportunity to join a dynamic and forward thinking company in producing bent and folded sheet metal and busbar components to service the Motorsport, F1 and the rapidly growing electric car markets.

The successful candidate will need to program, prove out and set up for manufacture of parts from drawings and CAD models on CNC Press Brakes and other conventional benders, made from a wide variety of materials and thicknesses including copper and aluminium.

The ideal applicant will also have experience programming and setting CNC laser cutting machines and have in-depth material and bending tool knowledge.

Must be time served from an engineering background with the ability to read technical fabrication drawings and be able to work on their own initiative.

We are looking for a highly motivated individual to work within our team to implement a step change in our current working practices.

 

Desirable skills 

  • Experience of programming and setting Amada press breaks and laser cutters using Dr ABE CAM software
  • Developing flat patterns off customer drawings / models and sheet nesting to minimise waste
  • Must have experience of working with Mild Steel – Aluminum - Stainless Steel and Copper
  • Assist in the preparation of pricing and quotations
  • Be responsible for ensuring replenishment of all gases and materials takes place.
  • Forklift truck license would be advantageous.
  • Work well as a team member, be punctual and a good time keeper
  • Be confident, organised and methodical
  • Be enthusiastic, self-motivated and able to motivate others
  • Be able to problem solve and come up with solutions
