Description of Team / Department

Working as part of the successful SHE-Q / Compliance team supporting Hanson Contracting Central region, reporting to the Compliance and Business Improvement Manager.

Purpose of / Responsibilities of the role

The SHEQ Technician role in Hanson Contracting is a support and monitoring role to ensure the business remains compliant and conforms to its sustainability responsibilities including Health, Safety and Wellbeing, the Environment and Quality Control.

As a SHEQ Technician the position has a wide range of roles and functions including product and process testing, management of equipment calibration, site inspections and internal auditing along with promoting best practice and continuous improvement in site activities.

The role crosses the boundaries between pavement construction, maintenance and other associated highways trades and disciplines, such as those delivered by Hanson Contracting Major Projects.

A flexible approach to geographic locations is required with travel to surfacing sites a key requirement. A company van will be provided and there may be occasions where travel and support other regions is required.

Skills / Experience

While training will provided, the ideal candidate will have:
* Minimum of 2 years experience of construction materials and management systems such as ISO 9001
* Knowledge of asphalt manufacture and asphalt surfacing (BS 594987 & National Highways Sector Scheme 16) including specifications for asphalt and aggregates.
* Proven ability to work independently as well as part of a small and successful team

* Membership of appropriate professional bodies or associations
* Full clean driving licence
