What is the purpose of the role?
Working in a team of engineers, you will technically assess and consult on applications for the effective delivery of sewerage asset Adoption agreements, pre-planning enquiries and impact studies of developer's schemes within our statutory time scales. During this process, you must ensure that our customer is at the heart of everything we do as well as ensuring our assets are fully protected. You will manage all calls, emails and enquiries, promptly and courteously, whilst providing a single point of contact when appropriate and offering technical advice when required.

You will be dealing daily with Local Authorities, major house builders and designers/consultants which provides opportunities to enhance and build long lasting relationships and build your reputation as an expert in the field. What will this role involve?
Technically assessing customer applications you will be responsible for:
Assessing plans and submissions for the adoption of Sewers and Pumping Stations, and proposals to divert and alter our sewerage network.
Answering any pre-planning enquiries and impact studies to ensure that no detriment is caused to Thames Water's assets or the public sewerage system.
Effectively contribute to the meeting of the team's overall performance and achievement of all targets.
Responding to internal and external customer requests for information, advice and guidance on technical matters and service delivery in accordance with company policy and procedures.
Prioritising work to deliver an excellent customer experience, being prepared to take decisions and being innovative in approach to improve customer satisfaction.
Proactively managing workloads to meet customer demands.
Taking corrective action when jobs are in jeopardy or failing to meet the customer agreed date or service requirements.
Responding positively and promptly to requests for additional information from other internal team's to resolve customer issues and complaints.
Maintaining and recording quality, accurate, up to date customer information on relevant systems.
Assist in the implementation and subsequent maintenance of new methods of working.
Coaching and mentoring less experienced colleagues.
What are we looking for?
We are seeking experienced civil engineers, preferably with a background in the Water Industry, with a working knowledge of Sewers for Adoption and the Water Industry Act. Ideally you will have achieved a relevant Civil Engineering qualification or are working towards one. Strong communication skills are essential as well as the ability to maintain and develop good working relationships and to deliver exceptional customer service. You must be confident in your subject matter and be able to communicate technical information to a non-technical audience as you are regularly dealing with customers. You must be able to prioritize high volumes of work in a fast paced environment where daily responsibilities can change. You will be required to take responsibility for your own workload and use your initiative to find an appropriate resolution. You must have good problem solving skills and be able to work as an integral part of the team.
Thames Water information and salary details
This role is offering a salary of £36,000 - £42,000 depending on skills and experience and will be based from our head office, Clearwater Court, in Reading.
