Job Summary

Our Transport Planning Team are seeking a Senior Transport Planner to meet existing and future demands. The role is intended to grow significantly over time, offering unlimited career progression potential for the right person. Our Transport Planning team plans and evaluates future transport schemes, forecasts demand and revenue, develops and evaluates transport policy, provides advisory services to various public sector bodies, develops business cases, undertakes economic appraisal, as well as looking at the relationships between spatial planning and transport.

The ideal candidate will come from an analytical background, such as engineering, economics, mathematics, computer science or geography and will have extensive experience in transport planning and key responsibilities listed in this recruitment notice. We value a combination of analytical and communication skills, with a creative approach to problem solving, and are seeking an individual with an in depth appreciation of their chosen area with excellent knowledge of wider transport planning, and experience of business development and project management. This is an exciting opportunity to join an accomplished team and work on a range of groundbreaking and innovative projects for a wide variety of clients.

The role (dependent on experience) will be as follows:

Successfully manage the delivery of projects in areas such as:

*

Transport Planning including modelling and economic appraisal

*

Transport Appraisal

*

Transport Business Case development

*

Transport Studies across a range of modes including active travel and public transport

*

Stakeholder engagement and communication

*

Take on the Key project roles on a variety of projects and deal directly with clients.

*

Support business development / proposal writing in the areas of transportation planning/engineering

*

Deputy and project management activities such as project team co-ordination, monitoring schedule, budget compliance and invoicing

*

Lead workstreams within projects with limited supervision, taking responsibility for the technical quality of the work and ensuring that best practice techniques are applied consistently.

*

Communicate and work with project team to provide a high quality of service to our clients and ensure that all documentation conforms to client and company standards

*

Provide mentoring and technical advice to junior team members

*

Liaise with and assist other AECOM business lines and geographies in the provision of transportation planning services to clients

*

Strong skills in stakeholder management, appraisal, business case, development of an evidence base to support transport investment, report writing and communication to a range of audiences is desirable. Significant progress towards Professional Qualification (TPP, CEng) is also desirable.

Minimum Requirements

*

An analytical mind and background and broad understanding of current transportation trends and issues, who can bring innovation and enthusiasm to our business.

*

Experience in areas such as transport strategy, modelling, planning and business case development which demonstrates excellent technical capabilities (literacy, numeracy, communication).

*

A highly motivated individual with excellent communication skills and ability to work in a consultancy environment, who will support business development and delivery of projects, contributing to effective client relationships and working to tight deadlines.

*

A team player who is passionate about transport planning and can work as part of wider project teams across disciplines and geographies – making high-quality technical contributions.

*

Proven analytical, data manipulation or statistical skills using appropriate software.
