Position Title Senior Traffic Modeller

Job Summary

AECOM are currently expanding their already substantial Traffic & Local Roads team in our St. Albans office following several major project wins. Our St. Albans team has a vacancy for a Senior Traffic Modeller with experience of traffic and transport modelling / design to join our leading traffic engineering consultancy. Reporting to the Traffic Modelling team leader you will provide technical support into assigned projects ensuring successful delivery of technically challenging traffic / highways schemes through the application of assorted traffic modelling packages.

OFFICE OVERVIEW – The St. Albans Traffic and Local Roads team provides concept and preliminary design, network modelling, detailed design, traffic signals and ITS, project delivery and construction management services on a wide range of projects for local authorities and contractors plus supports other AECOM business lines where their projects have a specialised traffic and highways interface. We would consider the role on either a full or part-time basis and are happy to look at a range of different working patterns.

The successful candidate will be joining a growing team that is actively involved in the delivery of projects and services to a range of both local and national clients including:

*

Transport for London (TfL) – currently heavily involved in the design and implementation of the cycle superhighways network;

*

London Highway Alliance Contract - facilitating transformational urban realm schemes in London through innovative traffic engineering solutions.

*

Southwark Highways & Professional Services Contract – providing support and advice on the emerging cycling Quietways programme in the Borough;

*

Midlands Highways Alliance – working across a number of the member authorities from Milton Keynes to Nottinghamshire;

*

Eastern Highways Alliance; and

*

Highways England

Job Duties:

*

Support the preparation, development and analysis of transport models and the production of appraisals and data reports for a range of major and minor projects.

*

Project manage small (or elements of larger) traffic modelling projects, managing the production of models and associated outputs, ensuring the integrity of these outputs;

*

Providing direction and technical advice to junior project team members, taking a proactive role in developing team members to their full potential.

*

Supporting bidding and work winning opportunities;

*

Promote and market all facets of the companies services during interfaces with clients, other sectors / disciplines and externally at seminars and conferences and build networks within the industry, consolidating both company and personal credibility in the industry;

*

Being familiar with, and compliant with, relevant H & S regulations and to promote a culture of awareness within the team

Minimum Requirements

*

The candidate would be expected to have relevant demonstrable experience and knowledge of VISSIM micro-simulation modelling as a component of scheme design, from concept to implementation, including impact assessment.

*

Additional experience in the use of any of the following traffic modelling software packages; LinSig, TRANSYT, ARCADY, PICARDY, would be of an advantage.

*

Experience of working to TfL’s Model Audit Process (MAP) – Desirable but not essential;

*

Experience of supporting bids, work winning and client development;

*

Knowledge and appreciation of design standards and guidance for traffic signal controlled junction and pedestrian facilities in the UK.

*

Knowledge of UK transport policies, organization and governance;

Preferred Qualifications

*

Relevant BSc/MSc/BEng Civil Engineering / Transport planning degree

*

Post-graduate qualifications an advantage
