Position Title Senior Tax Manager

AECOM is seeking a
Senior Tax Manager to support the UK & Ireland region, as well as the wider Europe, Middle East, India and Africa (“EMIA”) geography. The role is based in our modern offices in Basingstoke working within the EMIA tax team.
The successful candidate will be the team member primarily responsible for ensuring the quarterly tax reporting to Corporate for EMIA is dealt with. There is a focus on ensuring that the reporting, particularly at year-end, is accurate and timely, and that we respond fully to all audit questions. In addition to managing the process to ensure that the current and deferred tax provisions are appropriate for EMIA entities.
The role is also responsible for co-ordinating FIN 48 provisions, tax audit status summary, change in tax law summary, and addressing questions from both Corporate and EY on the group tax reporting. The successful candidate will deal with the calculation of UK and Ireland taxes for the bulk of the UK and Ireland EMIA entities.
As well as the above further responsibilities include;
Co-ordinate the preparation and submission of circa 40 corporate tax returns in the UK and Ireland. Whilst the actual preparation and submission of the returns is outsourced the successful candidate will need to ensure that the relevant data is provided to the outsourced preparers. In addition the draft returns must be reviewed by the successful candidate, who will also deal with any questions from the outsourced return preparers, and also deal with questions and enquiries HMRC.
Provide input and review the tax numbers and disclosures included in the statutory accounts for the UK and Ireland entities.
On occasions assist in the merger and business transfers within the UK and Ireland to reduce the AECOM companies.
Manage the Senior Accounting Officer certifications required by HMRC
Provide advice and training to the billing team on what VAT needs to be included in invoices to clients, and support our Global Business Services Group on technical advice for VAT returns and dealing with any disclosures to HMRC.
Ad hoc support to the business outside UK&I
To be successful in this role we are looking for a Qualified Accountant with the following skills and experience;
Strong UK Corporate Tax experience, and an appreciation of wider taxes
Experience in group tax reporting
Strong commercial acumen
Excellent organisational and planning skills
Effective communication, relationship building and interpersonal skills
Strong accounting and analytical skills
Ability to perform technical tax research
Ability to work on own initiative
Strong time management skills
Appreciation of difference between US GAAP and UK GAAP/IFRS
Advanced knowledge of excel
Accountancy qualification, ACA, ACCA or equivalent.
Ideally Institute of Tax qualification or equivalent too.
