Due to both the current workload and prospective opportunities, we are looking to appoint an experienced Senior Structural Technician or Structural Engineer to join our Water, Ports and Power structures and heavy civil engineering design team in Exeter. Working under the oversight of the Associate Director and Lead, Structures, we are seeking an individual who:
Enjoys working collaboratively with design colleagues to solve complex and interesting problems.
Is positive, proactive and a team player who enjoys working on both single and multi-disciplinary design projects.
Thrives on the technical challenges of heavy civil and structural engineering projects.
Has experience in the following type of schemes: large infrastructure, below ground structures, shafts and retaining walls.
Is thorough and prepares high quality outputs.

The AECOM Exeter office has a professional and friendly working environment. A recently refurbished office offers spacious workstations, ample meeting rooms, a dedicated client meeting area, a staff break out area with table tennis, two equipped kitchen areas and fresh coffee machines. There are also showers, a drying room and lockers available for those who cycle and run to work.
Technically strong in the following aspects of structural engineering: structural inspections, basic structural design, structural detailing and RC detailing.
Ideally, the individual will have water treatment works and wastewater treatment works experience although this isn’t essential.
Have experience in structural design software such as TEKLA TEDDS and SCALE, or similar.
Have experience in, or a willingness to learn, REVIT Structures. This will include coordinating with other design disciplines as well as interoperability with other software packages.
Have a sound understanding of safety, construction and operational considerations within design.
Ability to liaise and effectively coordinate with other design disciplines throughout the design process.
Value and contribute to a strong Health and Safety culture.
Have a good understanding and experience of quality processes and procedures within the design environment.
Have an enthusiastic and collaborative approach to your work, combined with sound team working skills and a willingness to help others learn, develop and grow.
Ability to demonstrate the above through experience.
* You will hold an accredited ONC and HNC qualification in Civil Engineering as a minimum.
