Overview / Responsibilities

Wood Process & Energy are seeking a Senior Static Equipment Engineer. This is a permanent staff role, based in our Darlington office.

Roles and Responsibilities:

* Lead and deliver the mechanical engineering project scope of work to the Client.
* Prepare material requisitions for a range of Static and Package equipment.
* Develop calculations to support engineering solutions including vessel nozzle load assessments, minimum thickness checks and support to tank design. Checking of internal and vendor calculations against design code and best practice.
* Lead Client discussion with focus on building strong Client relations to ensure expectations are met.
* Execute assigned work in accordance with the applicable Project Procedures and Standards
* Management of workload and budgets across designated work scopes to ensure successful delivery.
* Understand, review and comment on process design data to support equipment specification and selection.
* Review Suppliers’ quotations and prepare technical bid evaluation. Work closely with the Procurement team to develop the best solution for our Clients.
* Review of vendor documentation requirements for use and integration within the project.
* Manage project documentation effectively, ensuring all disciplines receive the quality information at the right time.
* Rigorously review post order vendor documentation and take a lead in resolving technical issues across multiple disciplines – driving the technical solutions to completion.
* Correspond with the Vendor on technical matters and ensure that action is taken where necessary
* Provide technical support to Engineering studies such as design reviews, HAZOP, SIL, and Constructability.
* Lead projects involving support from other Wood offices, UK and overseas.
* Engage in project control activities – identifying and resolving issues having the potential to impact the project execution.

Skills / Qualifications

* Degree qualified in a Mechanical Engineering discipline. Chartered status is an advantage.
* Experience shall consist of predominantly static equipment with knowledge of package equipment associated with chemical, oil & gas and pharmaceutical industries. Experience across life science, circular economy and other similar industry would be beneficial. Appreciation of rotating equipment would be an advantage.
* Good knowledge in the application of international design codes for static equipment, typically including ASME VIII / PD 5500, API650/620, BS EN 14015, BS EN 1993 (Eurocode).
* Experienced in vendor management and project coordination.
* Experienced in supporting engineering design reviews
* Good working knowledge with software packages such as Finglow and PV Elite, CAD, MS Office applications.
* Flexible attitude with proven experience of effective working in a project team environment.
* Proficient in development of Graduate Engineers and mentoring of developing Engineers.
