Senior Quantity Surveyor

Based London

We have a Senior Quantity Surveyor position available in our M4 Energy business unit aiding, supporting and offering advice on all commercial issues on projects within the substation & underground circuits portfolio that mainly consists of NEC ECC Option A and Option C contracts. The portfolio consists of the design, supply, installation and commissioning of underground circuits and substation works with the position predominantly based between our project sites and North West London, London head office. As Senior Quantity Surveyor you will report into a Managing Quantity Surveyor and will be responsible for a team of between one and three commercial staff varying in designation from Quantity Surveyor through to Commercial Assistant designation.

Roles and Responsibilities

* Encourage and develop a culture of commercial awareness within the team

* Ensure the site team adheres to group procedures and governance

* Development, motivation & performance management of staff

* Delegation of appropriate work to staff, whilst maintaining accountability

* Preparation of internal commercial reporting and any other reports which may be required

* Preparation of Valuations/Application for payment with full supporting documentation in accordance with the contract

* Preparation of Cost Reports to the Client with contractually compliant supporting documentation

* Preparation and management of subcontract and material procurement schedules

* Administration of subcontractor/supplier accounts from the preparation of detailed requisitions, monitoring and authorisation of subcontract payments through to agreement of final accounts

* Undertake the contract administration, including change management and maintain associated registers

* Identifying commercial risks, opportunities, value engineering and change

* Challenge & manage in cost control / cost mitigation

Qualifications / Experience / Personal Attributes

* Degree qualification

* Registered with RICS / CICES and working towards chartership

* Experience in a Commercial role in a similar sized organisation

* Experience in Construction, Engineering or a Project Management environment would be advantageous

* Full driving licence

* Commercially astute

* Excellent knowledge of Standard Forms of Contract (NEC) and Standard Methods of Measurement

* Computer literate with strong skills in Microsoft Office Applications (Word/Excel/Outlook/PowerPoint)

* Good communication skills including presentations and ability to negotiate and persuade others

* Conversant with programming techniques, project controls, risk analysis, contract admin, procurement, cost, claims
