Senior Quantity Surveyor

Based Bristol

Due to a new opportunity J. Murphy & Sons are recruiting an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor for the Crooks Marsh Stage One development project.

The Project, operating under NEC form of contract for National Grid, consists of the design and development phase of a larger project to install electrical cable in the Bristol area. Phase one will consist of developing the detailed design, price, risk register and supply chain strategy.

The Role

* Preparation of internal commercial cost and value reporting and any other reports which may be required

* Preparation of Applications for Payment with full supporting documentation in accordance with the contract

* Preparation, administration and management of NEC subcontract agreements

* Production and management of material procurement schedules

* Development and maintenance of the project risk and opportunity register

* Undertake the contract administration, including change management and maintain associated registers

* Producing accurate material take offs from project drawings

* Production of accurate cost and value forecasts

* Working closely with the internal tender team on building an accurate pricing estimate

* Working with the J. Murphy & Sons project team and supporting regional functional teams

* Collaboratively working with the Employer to ensure contract compliance

Your profile

* Degree in Quantity Surveying

* Quantity Surveying experience as a contractor's Quantity Surveyor

* Preferable experience of working on National Grid contracts

* Experience of working with NEC forms of contract

* Good communication skills including presentations and ability to negotiate with external stakeholders and supply chain partners

* Sound knowledge of Reading, Berkshire and understand Primavera programme tools, including understanding critical path analysis

* Passion for continuous improvement

* Drive to succeed in all tasks undertaken

* Experience of project controls, including cost control measures and reporting tools

* Experience of procurement of Subcontractors and material suppliers

* Must be MRICS qualified (or equivalent), or be able to demonstrate that they are working towards chartership

* Full driving license
