Sustainability Engineer

VolkerFitzpatrick is part of VolkerWessels UK, a multi-disciplinary construction and civil engineering group operating across the UK in six operating companies.

We are now looking for a Sustainability Engineer to join the team.

The Sustainability Engineer is an integral member of the operations team and assists the Project Manager in the effective and efficient running of the BREEAM assessment and sustainable services on site. It is expected that the Sustainability Engineer will act in a professional and responsible manner at all times maintaining good working relations with client, designers, site management, our chain of sub-contractors, suppliers and with the general public.

Key Responsibilities:

Work with the Sustainability Manager to research and accumulate evidence for BREEAM assessments.

*

Train to Undertake BREEAM Assessments on projects or work with external assessors to ensure compliance.

*

Aid in the development of Energy and Sustainability Strategies for new developments

*

Coordinate with Building Services Managers and external consultants to produce a Part L/EPC requirements list to ensure timely production of BRUKL/EPC documents.

*

Work with bid team to ensure all tender information for subcontractors includes all relevant requirements for asset handover documentation and that appropriate fees are included in their quotes.

*

Coordinate production of asset handover documentation with client and subcontractors

*

Organise Workshops with client to discuss handover requirements including documentation content and training needs.

*

Work with Building Services manager to Produce a training plans

*

Co-ordinate training in line with the training plan with the client and relevant specialists.

*

Conduct an aftercare review meeting to introduce the aftercare team (or individual) and Building User Guide (where existing), present key information about how the building operates and answer questions

*

Work with commissioning team to collect the energy and water consumption data for at least 12 months after occupation, Compare this with what was expected and Analyse any discrepancies with a view of adjusting systems if they are not operating as expected/designed.

*

Work with Commissioning manager to programme seasonal commissioning and system fine tuning.

*

Produce a performance report to Feedback any ‘lessons learned’ to the design team and developer for use in future projects

*

Carry out a Post Occupancy Evaluation (POE) one year after building occupation, to gain building performance feedback.

*

Scale off architectural plans and elevation drawings.

*

Carry out general administration work for the Sustainability Team

Experience and Qualifications:

* The successful applicant is likely to be degree qualified in a Sustainability/Environmental Discipline or have an interest or relevant experience in sustainability

* You will be a well organised team player with good communication skills required to build and maintain internal and external relationships with clients, the design team and our supply chain.

* You will be able to meet deadlines, have good attention to detail and knowledge of Microsoft packages.

* A willingness to learn and develop are key to this role.
