Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is currently recruiting for a Senior Project Manager at Principal Consultant grade in our Glasgow office. The successful candidate will be accountable for the planning, execution and delivery of projects within a variety of sectors including education, regeneration, built environment and defence to achieve the client’s project objectives.

This role will be responsible for leading the delivery of major projects involving multidisciplinary teams and will require the skills to develop, lead and motivate the project teams and champion high quality delivery and promotion of best practice health and safety.

Key Responsibilities

* Preparing and maintaining definitions of the requirements of complex projects
* Developing and reviewing core project documentation including:
* Developing the strategies, processes and procedures to successfully deliver the project objectives
* Contract management
* Schedule management:.
* Financial governance of major projects, frameworks or programmes; including:
* Conflict management
* Team leadership and coordination
* Stakeholder engagement
* Governance

Skills / Qualifications

Essential

* Degree level or equivalent in an engineering, project management, building, architecture, quantity surveying, science or business discipline.
* Proven track record in the successful delivery of minor and major projects from initiation to completion.
* Identification and monitoring of project risks (threats and opportunities), planning and implementing responses to them and responding to other issues that affect projects;
* Contract management experience particularly in the administration of professional services and engineering & construction contracts;
* Experience in developing, maintaining and applying quality management processes for project activities and outputs;
* Strong leadership and negotiation skills;
* Effective communicator, influencer and decision maker;
* Dedicated team player and hard worker.
* Experience of providing consultancy services to clients including client relationship development, bidding, commercial management and conflict resolution.
* Experience in preparing bids for professional services
* Commercial management of services to clients
* Strategic thinker and ability to solve complex problems

Desirable

* Post graduate qualification appropriate to project management
* Project Management qualification, for example PMP, PRINCE2, APM PMQ (APMP) or RPP.
* Membership of professional body, for example Association for Project Management (APM) or Project Management Institute (PMI).
* Knowledge of value management and value engineering techniques.
* Knowledge of the application of quality management systems to projects.
* Knowledge of the application of HSSE and CDM requirements to projects.
* Experience of contract administration using NEC, JCT etc.
