Position Title Senior Project Manager

Job Summary

AECOM’s Centre of Excellence in Swindon provides Industrial Process design and delivery capability both to our international clients and to our colleagues in the global AECOM business. Our engineers and EPC delivery specialists undertake complex innovative projects across diverse sectors including Food & Beverage, Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals, Industrial Water/Wastewater, Renewable Energy, Materials Recovery and Telecommunications.

Currently, we are looking for a Senior Project Manager to be located in Swindon, you will have a background as part of an in house engineering/project/process improvement team; or machine/system integrator to the automotive, aerospace, food, medical, FMCG, or other heavily automated manufacturing industries.

The role will involve working across several project teams and numerous projects, monitoring and controlling resources, costs and profitability to ensure successful project delivery. A fundamental aspect is the identification of scope change, its recording and assessment and the successful negotiation of consequent cost change.

The preferred candidate will be an engineer or other technically educated professional able to communicate clearly, with diplomacy and authority, in this vital client-facing role.

Minimum Requirements


Degree (or equivalent qualification) and relevant experience in engineering or related subject.


Demonstrable experience of monitoring and controlling resources and costs on diverse process-led design and delivery projects.


Ability to collate, analyse and act upon incomplete, complex and diverse information from a variety of sources and to give well-considered advice for project level decision making.


Ability to influence and motivate stakeholders within a complex environment.


Willingness to travel in the UK and globally.


Technical and professional competence and experience of working within a fast moving multi-disciplinary engineering team.


Self-motivated individual with initiative.


Flexible, pragmatic and constructive problem-solving approaches.


Excellent written and spoken English, including the ability to explain complex issues in a simple and engaging way.
