Job description/Person specification
An exciting opportunity to join a high performing team of multi-disciplinary engineers delivering critical test and evaluation of defence related Ordnance Munitions and Explosives products. As part of this team you will develop the necessary skills to simulate some of the most challenging environments in the world to ensure that the systems are ultimately safe and suitable for release to service.
This role will require the holder to be able to obtain full security clearance. To gain clearance you will normally have had to have been a resident in the UK for a minimum of 5 years, regardless of nationality.

The successful candidate will work within the planning team at the Environmental Test Centre at MOD Shoeburyness. You will gain an understanding of the bid process and when competent, lead this process liaising directly with the project manager and customer. You will deliver complex testing of high value assets to assess their performance within the demanding operational environments that the systems will be subjected to throughout their operational life.
To achieve this you will have an thorough understanding as to how to stimulate test assets with vibration, shock, climatic and temperature profiles as well as the inspection and radiography of the equipment throughout the test regime. You will lead a team of specialists through the Hazardous activities Management process culminating in a approved suite of trials documentation complete with risk assessments and transportation plans. At various stages you will produce a trials report for the customer.
You will be responsible for planning the set-up and the timely conduct of a large suite of trials in accordance with the customer specifications & working procedures ensuring a compliance with all safety legislation associated with the activities; you will be further responsible for ensuring the trial hits its milestone dates throughout the program.

Be flexible and adaptable to the many and varied challenges faced by this role.
Be able to work proactively and reactively during the complete trials process.
Undertake further courses as required to ensure your continuous training development.
Produce weekly updates to the ETC Group leader on yours and other trials activities within the planning office.
Undertake duties assigned by the team and group leaders.
Undertake duties within other environmental departments, dependant on departmental workload

Working towards or willing to work towards professional qualification MiEXPE, IENG or CENG
Clean driving licence
Working Knowledge of the bid process
Mentoring or training skills
