Senior Pricing Development Underwriter
Location: Manchester, Brighton or

This is a new role which will be focusing on the
enhancement of our Underwriting Activity in our Retail business. As the Senior
Pricing Development Underwriter, you will have the opportunity to drive,
support and implement the pricing and underwriting strategy across UK Retail
Lines of Business. You will provide technical, distribution and business
leadership to the Portfolio Development function and wider business areas.
This role is available part-time, job-share or full
time. This is because we want the best people for our roles, and we recognise
that sometimes those people aren’t available full-time.
What will you be doing?
The role of Senior Pricing Development Underwriter will
consist of these 5 main areas:
Pricing and Underwriting
Capability and Strategy Development:
You will support key
strategic initiatives and projects across UK Retail Pricing and Underwriting, driving
enhancements to Pricing and Underwriting capability and sharing best practice
across each Line of Business.
Framework & Systems:
You will provide technical input into the design
and implementation of Pricing and Product systems to execute great underwriting,
ensuring effective pricing is utilised across the Lines of Business.
You will be a key Underwriting advocate by
supporting and collaborating with the wider UK Retail teams, as well as the UK
Retail Pricing and Underwriting teams, when assessing new initiatives. You will
have a firm grasp of market influences, key competitors and capability
opportunities across all appropriate markets.
Development & Direction:
You will communicate and embed strategies, methodologies
and behaviours across the wider underwriting and pricing teams. Development is
important to us and you will play a key role as an advocate for personal and
professional development across underwriting and beyond, taking an active role
in setting the bar high.
Customer and Partner
In order to proactively deliver real change to your
key stakeholders, you will be able to add real value to your partners that will
support the delivery of the strategy that leads to profitable growth.
You will also support the negotiation for new and
current business relationships that we have.
What are we looking for?
* Experience in the pricing and underwriting of business acquired
from the personal lines or commercial market.
* Experience in leading key Underwriting and Pricing initiatives and
* Strong understanding of available Pricing and Underwriting software
and best practices.
* Strong skills in leadership, relationship building, active
listening, needs analysis, and negotiating.
* Demonstrates strong presentation skills with an ability to explain
technical concepts to non-technical individuals both internally and
* Advanced and in-depth knowledge of products and lines of business
* Excellent analytical skills with the ability to turn analysis into
insight and business decisions.
