What is the purpose of the role?
You will be responsible for the South London geographical area reporting to the Head of Water Networks. You will be accountable for developing, leading and executing business activity You will performance manage a team of circa 200 to ensure deliverables in a timely and efficient manner.
Being the UK's largest Water Service Company, we are responsible for providing the highest quality drinking water and exceptional service to 8.9m customers every day. In meeting these obligations we produce and distribute over 2800million litres of water through our water network each day and as Head of Region, you will be responsible for ensuring continuity of service, maintenance of our water network assets, managing operational emergencies and ensuring that work is undertaken safely, efficiently and whilst maintaining excellent service to customers and the communities we operate in. The successful candidate will be expected to have an in-depth understanding of operations, quarterly and annual strategies, budgets as well as business improvements and change.

What will this role involve?
We are looking for someone who is experienced in working within a complex organisation, in collaboration with alliance partners, delivering change as required.
Key areas of accountability will include;
Liaising with colleagues across all levels of the organisation, executing change and business improvements.
Managing a budget of 40 million pounds to create a yearly business plan for your region that ensures we deliver our necessary outputs for the year.
Work with our Strategic Management Centre to understand and agree the regional changes in Thames Water's processes and plan to deliver improved customer service.
Define a clear set of agreed improvement and efficiency initiatives that enable the business plan success.
Manage a portfolio of network improvement projects.
Performance management of core workforces across the region.
Ensure all metrics that lead to customer service that impact the regions performance are understood, challenged and delivered.
Ensure compliance, health & safety and other regulatory requirements in relation to operational, safety, environmental and financial criteria.
What are we looking for?
This role requires a credible senior manager with previous experience in a similar role, ideally within the utilities industry. You will possess significant and exceptional service management leadership across a region, and will have demonstrable experience in managing a diverse and demanding workload. Additionally, other areas of experience necessary are; preferably educated to degree level ideally with an engineering qualification. It is crucial that you have experience of influencing across a large capital programme. You need demonstrable experience operating at all levels of business from operations through to board level. You will be commercially minded and have a proven track record of effective regional performance management. You will possess the willingness to take calculated risks and will be comfortable operating under stressful conditions. Due to the nature of the role you will have a clean and full UK driving licence.
Thames Water information and salary details
This role has a flexible base location in Croydon, Darenth or Epsom. This role is covering maternity leave with other opportunities within the business area following the return of the employee. The salary on offer for this role is between circa £70,000 to circa £90,000, dependant on skills and experience.
