Senior Modeller

Main Purpose of the Job:

We are looking for a Senior Modeller to join our team to support the increase of work that we have received. Work will predominantly be on flood risk management projects for developers, water companies and local authorities across the UK and overseas. Work is likely to involve surface water drainage, SuDS, wastewater networks and urban watercourses. Many of the projects will involve integrated urban drainage modelling (Incl. 2D), and working in partnership with a number of risk management authorities.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

•Ensure project work is delivered to a high standard and to agreed timescales

•Provide hydraulic modelling technical support to more junior colleagues

•In conjunction with senior colleagues be pro-active in team-building, career development of colleagues within the water team to facilitate continuous learning / growth and to provide your direct project support

•Project management of assigned projects as required

•Line management and mentoring of individuals within the section

•Carrying out own discipline technical and other work as required on assigned projects

•Provision of modelling technical support and mentoring to team

•Technical quality of work from team (own discipline)

•Undertake the role of Line Manager as required

•Prepare or supervise own design calculations, tender documentation, scheme evaluations, design statementand other reports as identified in the Project Management Plan on assigned projects

•Monitor quality of own discipline team work in accordance with good practice, relevant standards, Codes of Practice, current design methods and Health & Safety legislation

•Check/ approve own discipline work, as identified in the Project Management Plan on assigned project

•Carry out other duties identified in the Project Management Plan on assigned projects

•Have a good understanding of all relevant standards, Codes of Practice, Health & Safety Legislation and current design methods and provide general technical support to own discipline team members

•Assist with the preparation and maintenance of own discipline standard specifications as required

•Assist with monitoring, planning and forecasting utilisation of own discipline team members and project resources

•Comply with BMS Procedures

Essential Qualifications

•Suitable science or engineering qualifications

Preferred Qualifications

•Chartered with ICE or CIWEM

Essential Experience

•A good understanding of the responsibilities of water companies, lead local flood authorities and Environment Agency in relation to flood risk and drainage

•Experience of modelling of surface water drainage, watercourses and waste water networks, preferably using Infoworks ICM and the use of 2D

•Experience of planning, designing and implementing SUDS

Preferred Experience

•Previous experience of an engineering organisation

•Experience in a client facing role

Essential Skills

•Communication skills; Verbal & Written

•Excellent Technical Skill relating to delivery of engineering solutions to flooding issues, design of drainage and hydraulic modelling processes

Preferred Skills

•Microsoft office suite
