Position Title Senior Mechanical Engineer

Job Summary

We are recruiting for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to be based with our well established team in Swindon.

We are one of the world's leading engineering and environmental consultants, offering professional planning, engineering and architectural design, environmental, construction and programme and construction management services throughout the UK and internationally. You will be joining a well-established and experienced team in one of our larger offices. We are currently recruiting for a Mechanical Design Engineer to be based in our Swindon office.

As Mechanical Engineer, you will provide a range of consultancy design services to customers in a variety of fields including Railways, Automotive and Aviation. You will be responsible for the mechanical design solutions and producing detailed design drawings.

In addition, you will need to keep up to date on all the latest products and legislation, maintain a CRM system, report on any competitor activity, communicate with the existing team including the sales department and attend regular corporate meetings. Some travel will be required to undertake site visits and client meetings.

Minimum Requirements

For this role, you will be an experienced mechanical engineer who has been surrounded by the automation environment, involved in large projects and is comfortable leading a team and mentoring.

AECOM is particularly interested in individuals who have performed machine risk assessment and safety related design work in the past, but would happily consider those from other backgrounds. A good working knowledge of the safety directives including CE Marking and Machine RISK Assessments is required. Individuals who are familiar with general workplace safety, ATEX, Pressure Equipment also will be considered.

The salary for this role is negotiable and we offer an extensive benefits package, which includes private healthcare, gym membership, season ticket loans and a contributory pension scheme.

Demonstrable experience to be drawn from the following areas;

Project management and consulting activities.

Automated manufacturing process proposal and development, utilising knowledge of:-

*

product design

*

tooling design

*

assembly methods

*

ergonomic requirements

*

formalised analysis tools such as FMEA’s

*

Use of 3D modelling tools.

*

Coordination of supplier activities such as Factory Acceptance Testing or installations

*

Generation of detailed equipment and process specification documentations.

*

Supplier proposal evaluation and specifications development.

Preferred Qualifications

In order to be successful for this role, you should be able to demonstrate;

*

Excellent, written and verbal English communication skills to communicate effectively across all levels of staff and management.

*

Independent and self-motivated with the ability to effectively organise and deliver to defined deadlines (Quality, Cost & Delivery) across multiple projects.

*

Proven experience and high levels of performance

*

Initiative, the desire to drive change and motivation to exceed expectations

*

Strong leadership skills and ability to manage both vertically and horizontally, delivering projects on time and to cost

*

Excellent computer skills in MS Office (Excel , PowerPoint, Word, Access, Projects)

*

The ability to interrogate part designs and layouts.

*

Experience in manufacturing equipment design and process definition

*

A degree in, or equivalent knowledge of, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or similar discipline
