Job Summary

Our Water Environment team is recruiting an experienced Senior Hydrogeologist to work in our Birmingham office both within the Water Environment team, and within the wider AECOM multi-disciplinary business.

We are looking for an experienced hydrogeologist to assist with project management, business development, undertaking hydrogeological technical assessments for a wider range schemes including Water Resources, Engineering Hydrogeology and Environmental Impact Assessment. They are able to coordinate field surveys, prepare and review technical reports, liaising with clients, and assisting with the management and mentoring of junior colleagues within the regional team.

You will be an ambitious team player with an aptitude for client care, project delivery and development of innovative, cost effective solutions in a collaborative, stimulating, demanding environment.

Desirable Job Requirements:

*

Experience in a range of hydrogeological assessments.

*

Experience in a range of reporting styles and data analyses: technical reports, Environmental Impact Assessment, Water Framework Directive Assessment, data analysis, GIS, modelling, etc.

*

Experience in the planning, coordination and management of site works, including sub-contractor management.

*

Provide support for the delivery of existing and new contracts, with experience of project delivery.

*

Demonstrate the relevant technical and management skills relevant to your area of specialism;

*

Possess the motivation, initiative and organizational skills needed to work effectively in a busy multi-disciplinary environment.

*

Work in a network of hydrogeologists and water scientists with opportunities to contribute to multi-disciplinary projects.

*

Ability to work flexibly under pressure, responding to changing project and programme demands.

*

Develop and maintain internal and external client relationships; the provision of technical advice as required.

*

Excellent communication skills, verbal and written and in particular the ability to write business cases and proposals, concise technical reports as required.

*

Strong attention to detail.

*

Knowledge of current environmental legislation: Groundwater Regulations, Water Framework Directive; other legislation relevant to hydrogeological assessments.

*

Appreciate H&S issues associated with the type of work and associated activities.

*

First Aid at Work and Water Safety training would be beneficial but can be provided.

*

Assist with administrative duties, potentially to include Line Management, and help develop the nationwide Water Environment team.

Minimum Requirements

*

Excellent technical reporting.

*

Project management, coordination, and multi-disciplinary working.

*

Digital data capture, analysis and presentation, large-scale data processing, GIS and modelling etc.

*

Planning, coordinating and scheduling fieldwork.

*

Aspirations for CPD.

*

Business management procedures, business development and work winning.

Preferred Qualifications

*

MSc or above in hydrogeology or similar.

*

First degree in either Geochemistry, applied geology degree ie engineering/environmental geology, Geophysics, Geography, Earth Science, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Bioscience must have a focus on Hydrogeology.

*

Between 5 to 10 years of experience in the industry – consultancy or water company, a combination or similar.

*

Membership of a relevant professional body, either chartered status or working towards that

*

Licensed to drive a vehicle in the UK (desirable).
