Job Summary

Our Streets team have a vacancy for a Senior Highway/Traffic Engineer in our Birmingham City Centre office

As a Senior Engineer, you will be either leading the delivery of small and medium-sized projects or form part of a project management team on larger projects with responsibility for ensuring successful project delivery to meet Client expectations & the agreed deliverables. In doing so you will support our contract commitments whilst ensuring the designs are produced to a high quality and in accordance with all relevant standards and guidance.

The Streets team provides concept, preliminary and detailed design and network modelling services on a wide range of projects for local authorities and contractors plus supports other AECOM business lines where their projects have a specialised traffic and highways interface.

You will be joining a growing team that is actively involved in the delivery of projects and services to a range of both local and national clients including:

*

West Midlands Combined Authority / Transport for West Midlands

*

Wolverhampton City Council

*

Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council

Minimum Requirements

*

Undertake Health & Safety duties including ensuring a safe and consistent working environment for team members and fulfilling all responsibilities for safety, health and environment in design.

*

Knowledge of relevant design and safety standards (e.g. DMRB, TSRGD, MCHW, Manual for Streets, CDM Regulations)

*

Experience in the design of highway engineering and local transport schemes, including preparation of design drawings, reports, and technical notes

*

Lead on and ensure the technical content and quality of all outputs are in line with the project brief, design regulations and standards, checking the work of others.

*

An interest in managing project teams to deliver successful outcomes for Clients

*

Experience of monitoring financial and programme performance,

*

The ability to motivate and mentor junior staff, sharing knowledge to ensure the wider team are up to date with current best practice, techniques and innovation

*

Input into detailed client briefs and fee proposals and contribute to major bids.

*

Excellent people skills

Whilst not essential the following skills would be desirable:

*

Appreciation of traffic modelling

*

3D Design (Civils 3D)

*

Drainage design

*

NEC3/4 Project Management experience

*

CSCS Card holder

*

Well-developed leadership, communication, negotiating, influencing and interpersonal skills, with the drive and commitment to achieve project/ programme wide objectives

Preferred Qualifications

* A relevant MSc/MEng, degree or HND and membership of a professional institution and working towards an appropriate Chartered / Incorporated status.
