Wood is currently recruiting for a Senior Estimator with experience in the nuclear (or another regulated) industry. As the demand for our expertise continues to grow an opportunity has arisen for a Senior Estimator to work as part of the Wood Project Delivery Function. This role will be based in our Cumbria, North West/Westlakes office, but occasional travel may be required to other offices. The position is responsible for estimating for a number of projects and tasks within an existing framework related to on-site works.

SC clearance is required for this role.

Skills / Qualifications

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Estimating Manager/Lead Estimator, you will be responsible for ;-

* Adherence and promotion of all HSSE activities.
* Preparation of estimates for the Civil, Mechanical, and Electrical installations.
* Reviewing and understanding of scope documents.
* Production of MTOs.
* Providing guidance to other member of the project team on estimating methodologies.
* Identify when support is required and provide this to fellow team members.
* Preparation of contractor raised compensation events with CEMAR.
* Working with other member of the project team to develop/improve estimating methodologies.
* Ensuring the accuracy, extent and timing of own work whilst complying with the Joint Venture / Framework assurance procedures.
* Attending internal meetings to establish man-hour allocations, programme requirements and the extent of bought out equipment and services.
* Supporting the Planning Team with information and key dates for receipt of Client’s information, equipment deliveries and critical points of the programme.
* Attending progress meetings both internally and with Client.
* Engaging with the supply chain to obtain quotations and conduct evaluations of quotations.
* Ensuring maximum accuracy of estimates by liaising with Project Managers/Engineers/Risk Practitioners on all estimates.
* Instigation of LFE activities for own projects.
* Proactive identification and implementation of Improvement opportunities.
* Perform any other duties within your capability as directed by the Lead Estimator, Project Controls Manager, Estimating Manager and/or Directors.

Role Requirements

* Significant Estimating role experience within multi-million pound projects
* Knowledge of Industry practices, preferably Nuclear industry.
* Intermediate to Expert Excel skills
* Attention to detail and good numerical skills
* Risk Identification and Risk Management skills
* Good communication skills
* Able to work independently and as part of a team
* Bachelor’s degree an advantage, but not essential
* A QCF qualification in Project Controls is an advantage, but not essential
