Wood is currently recruiting for a Senior Estimating Engineer to join our Reading office on a staff basis.The successful candidate will have strong estimating experience within an O&G project environment.

* To be responsible, as and when required for the Estimating of complete projects of all classes by application of recognised norms and databases
* Review and agree with the supervising Estimator the scope, basis and methodology of the estimate
* To liaise during the Estimating phase between various members of the engineering department, Project Management and construction disciplines to establish continuity and consistency
* Review specifications, drawings, and attend meetings, etc. to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate
* Ability and experience to both Lead and contribute to all aspects of Estimates, including detail of MTO’s and unit rates, factored approaches and use if systems such as ACCE
* Ensure all working documents and data are maintained to back-up estimate figures
* To assemble and present a professional estimate with the tools and systems available
* Ensure that Estimating Engineers and Trainees assisting with the work are adequately trained and supervised
* Review estimates produced by assigned Estimating Engineers to ensure the quality of the estimate is acceptable.
* Review each estimate or part estimate with the supervising Estimator to confirm the correct estimating methodology has been used and agree the quality of the estimate
* Prepare estimating data as requested by the supervising Estimator including data required for reviews and presentation to client
* Complete arithmetic checks of estimates produced
* Recommend to Chief Estimating Engineer changes to the Department systems and work practices to improve the efficiency and accuracy of estimating, including areas for technical investigation
* Keep informed regarding developments in the design, construction and estimating techniques used within the process plants and associated industries*
Provide support to other offices in the Wood organisation for estimating requirements
*
Ongoing development and enhancement of cost estimate sheets for continuous improvement
*
Collation of benchmark project pricing, as executed against budget
*
Collate, understand and implement any lessons learnt / feedback from execution team
*
Production of benchmarks / statistics to support future pricing
*
Understand and demonstrate the company ethics and behaviours
*
Observe / follow Wood HSSE & ethics policies / rules at all times
*
Short duration, “business trip”, travel as required to attend meetings/reviews at other Wood offices

Skills / Qualifications
*
The ideal candidate will be a highly numeric individual, with excellent written and verbal communication skills
*
Engineering degree
*
Use of ACCE (Aspen Capital Cost Estimator)
*
Ability to work under pressure with minimum supervision and consistently meet Project deadlines
*
Estimating experience in the oil and gas / petrochemical industry
